quickymart:

So when's it going to happen? Will he act as quickly as he did to reinstate Trump's account?

He'll re-post the survey: "Sorry, too many options. Will redo poll.

Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

No"

;)

I guess Elon will solve Middle East peace. Oh wait, Trump's son-in-law already sorted that.

BBC: Elon Musk: Twitter users vote in favour of boss resigning

...Mr Musk's private jet appears to be on its way back from the World Cup in Qatar, where he was pictured at the final next to Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner on Sunday
...
There has been a flurry of controversial changes at Twitter since Mr Musk bought the social media site.

He has fired about half of its staff and attempted a rollout of Twitter's paid-for verification feature before putting it on pause. The feature was relaunched last week.

He has also been criticised for his approach to content moderation, with some civil liberties groups accusing him of taking steps that will increase hate speech and misinformation.

On Friday, Mr Musk was condemned by the United Nations and European Union over Twitter's decision to suspend some journalists who cover the social media firm.

The UN tweeted that media freedom is "not a toy", while the EU threatened Twitter with sanctions.

After starting the poll, Mr Musk tweeted: "As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it."

He added later: "Those who want power are the ones who least deserve it."

quickymart: And he's probably not sure what to do now, even though he said he would abide by the outcome. As he's so thin-skinned he's probably totally at a loss what to do - he thought everyone loved him and what he was doing with Twitter! Sadly, no.

It makes sense to me. Musk has done what he needed to do given the acquisition process and what he paid and the result. There's no sense in Musk staying around and micromanaging it. I'm sure he'll jump back in from time to time if it needs something extra.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/dec/20/elon-musk-breaks-silence-after-10-million-twitter-users-vote-for-him-to-step-down

So, despite the majority saying he should step down, he's just going to restrict the voting to blue tick users? What if they tell him to step down too? Will they need to send their vote in the mail next? 🙄

Yep. He doesn't need to be the CEO - he's the owner so can simply install a CEO that will do his bidding.

Funny when I saw "I will abide by the results of this poll," I don't remember seeing "* see terms and conditions."

I guess "humble in victory, gracious in defeat" is only for the unwashed masses.

Musk and the next CEO may have the same relationship as Putin and Russian prime minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Maybe we can suggest that Musk Hires Uriah Heap as COO.
Who else can deal with him until...

I asked chatGPT AI to create a story based on this premise.
https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt/

So in the style of Musk and Uriah, but not them :-0

I added a monkeypox outbreak and bonesaws for potential 'the Office' humor.
You need to be good at coaching chatGPT, its very polite. I'll admit GIGO
It won't be finishing 'A Song of Ice and Fire' for GRRM anytime soon.

""
Elon: (frustrated) Fine. But what am I supposed to do about this monkeypox outbreak? It's spreading and people are getting these unsightly weeping pustules all over their bodies. I can't have that kind of negative publicity.

Uriah: I apologize, Mr. Musk. We're doing everything we can to contain the outbreak and prevent the spread of the disease. It might be necessary to keep the staff in the office and confiscate their phones to prevent them from posting pictures.

Elon: (nodding) Good idea. Containment is more important than medical treatment. We can't afford to let this get out.

(private note from Uriah to himself) Things are going well with my plans. Just need to keep a low profile and be patient. My team is working on the bonesaw thing. Hopefully we can get it sorted out before Musk realizes what's going on.

I used to dread seeing Trump's name pop up in the news. Now it is Musk. Can someone please just put all these people on Looney island and take away their Internet devices?

Uh-huh 🙄

But as an ÜberFoolish, he could have known that before he fired the previous CEO. 🤡

"I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams," Musk wrote on Twitter.

Apart from the software and servers, what else is there at Twitter? The on-site property management including pest control, nighttime security, non-arboreal gardening services, and tenant-related easements and liens team?

Policy manager and posting supervisor? In the past, you worked your way up from letter distributor to CEO. 😇

I would suggest he work on the "terror queue" or "trauma floor" for a year. That should give him some empathy, adjust his views on "being woke," versus his right-wing friends.

Washington Post: Content moderators at YouTube, Facebook and Twitter see the worst of the web — and suffer silently

A year after quitting his job reviewing some of the most gruesome content the Internet has to offer, Lester prays every week that the images he saw can be erased from his mind.

First as a contractor for YouTube and then for Twitter, he worked on a high-up floor of a mall in this traffic-clogged Asian capital, where he spent up to nine hours each day weighing questions about the details in those images. He made decisions about whether a child’s genitals were being touched accidentally or on purpose, or whether a knife slashing someone’s neck depicted a real-life killing — and if such content should be allowed online.

He’s still haunted by what he saw. Today, entering a tall building triggers flashbacks to the suicides he reviewed, causing him to entertain the possibility of jumping. At night, he Googles footage of bestiality and incest — material he was never exposed to before but now is ashamed that he is drawn to. For the last year, he has visited a mall chapel every week, where he works with a church brother to ask God to “white out” those images from his memory.
...
Facebook takes pride in the fact that it pays contractors at least 20 percent above minimum wage at all of its content review sites

The Verge: The terror queue

She spent the past three and a half weeks in training, trying to harden herself against the daily onslaught of disturbing posts: the hate speech, the violent attacks, the graphic pornography. In a few more days, she will become a full-time Facebook content moderator, or what the company she works for, a professional services vendor named Cognizant, opaquely calls a “process executive.”

For this portion of her education, Chloe will have to moderate a Facebook post in front of her fellow trainees. When it’s her turn, she walks to the front of the room, where a monitor displays a video that has been posted to the world’s largest social network. None of the trainees have seen it before, Chloe included. She presses play.

Someone is stabbing him, dozens of times, while he screams and begs for his life. The video depicts a man being murdered. Someone is stabbing him, dozens of times, while he screams and begs for his life. Chloe’s job is to tell the room whether this post should be removed. She knows that section 13 of the Facebook community standards prohibits videos that depict the murder of one or more people. When Chloe explains this to the class, she hears her voice shaking.

Returning to her seat, Chloe feels an overpowering urge to sob. Another trainee has gone up to review the next post, but Chloe cannot concentrate. She leaves the room, and begins to cry so hard that she has trouble breathing.

No one tries to comfort her. This is the job she was hired to do. And for the 1,000 people like Chloe moderating content for Facebook at the Phoenix site, and for 15,000 content reviewers around the world, today is just another day at the office.

Won't be accounts, sound like he is already not paying them.

HR seems to be a personal disaster too.
