freitasm:If you don't vote against them, someone might vote for them. And the results will be worse for everyone.

I can't see any candidate here being any better than any other - they seem to be all equally bad!

When you say "here" you mean in this thread?

This thread only lists the candidates associated with misinformation and misleading activities. The ones not to vote for.

Here as in Riccarton / Christchurch - Conspiracy Theorist or not! They would certainly have a good chance of getting in here! The Conspiracy Theorists that is!

An amazing number of Candidates with NO Bio details or further info on policies. Amazing number standing for the Community Board who don't even live in the Ward!

Don 't you think those people have an agenda? What about all the candidates being elected unopposed? If you really think there is no-one worthwhile, maybe you should stand yourself, or encourage someone else who is not 'equally bad'. I am discouraged on the national level by the lack of good choice, but not voting is also voting. It is voting for that 'equally bad' you decry.

So you think a person who has had a Stroke, cannot sit for long periods. Multiple blood test requirements sometimes daily and has a "builders saw bench" screaming at 12/10 in their head 24/7 would make a good candidate?

What's the alternative that might get in if you don't vote? Is the alternative an anti-vax, sovereign citizen alt-right racist?

Some more, this time North Canterbury. The first one claims to be a mentor - honestly, with her warped views she shouldn't be mentoring anyone in anything.

Auckland election candidate believes Covid vaccines are sterilising women | Stuff.co.nz

An Auckland business owner who believes the Covid-19 vaccine causes women to be infertile is standing for Albert-Eden local board.

Shayne La Rosa told Stuff he has previously donated to anti-vaccination, anti-mandate group Voices For Freedom (VFF) and was one of the hundreds arrested at Parliament during the 23-day occupation earlier this year.

“I've worn a mask less than a dozen times since the start of the pandemic.

“I've never sanitised, and I've never social distanced. I've never been vaccinated.”

La Rosa has had Covid, but said he caught the virus during one of his trips to protest in Wellington due to “all the electromagnetic things down there”.

Good: Notorious white supremacist Philip Arps loses election to join Christchurch school board | Newshub

Philip Arps, who was jailed for 21 months after sharing footage of the March 15 terror attacks and in 2016 filmed himself delivering a pig head to the Al Noor Mosque, came in last place in his bid for election.

The father-of-six was controversially running to become one of five parent representatives at one of the most multicultural secondary schools in Christchurch, Te Aratai College.

Te Aratai College in Linwood is just down the road from Linwood Islamic Centre, a Sunni Islam mosque which Arps is banned from.

In July 2021, just under 65 percent of the college's students identified as non-European/Pākehā.

In Arps' candidate statement, he said he had "high concerns about the new social constructs pushed and becoming the educationally enforced norm within New Zealand's school curriculum for the purpose of grooming young minds".

Yet, 25 people voted for him.

Probably all his family and friends, maybe? A relative wanted me to vote for Leo Molloy because she knew him - but there was no way in hell that was happening; I couldn't stand the guy.

Auckland local board candidate claims Covid-19 vaccine 'experimental' | Stuff.co.nz

A woman running in Auckland’s local elections has claimed the Covid-19 vaccine is “an experimental shot”.

Emma Ryburn-Phengsavath is vying for a spot on the Kaipātiki Local Board, which services Glenfield, Beach Haven, Northcote and Birkenhead on the North Shore.

In her candidate statement on the Auckland Council website, Ryburn-Phengsavath said she was an independent, freethinking and alternative voice.

Ryburn-Phengsavath previously shared her disagreement with Covid-19 vaccine mandates on social media, including material from anti-vax group Voices For Freedom, which compared the mandates to discrimination.

She also referred to the vaccine as “an experimental shot” in a Facebook post about healthcare workers who lost their jobs due to not being vaccinated.

Oh that's my local board. Yes there's someone else I wasn't planning on voting for, after looking at her Facebook page.

@richms be aware...!
