I would go so far as to say she is not a deplorable, if she could see the error of her ways, accept consequences, show remorse, make amends, and change. That's the mark of at least a decent person (not going so far as to say a good person) - one who has been misled and made mistakes, for sure - but not a deplorable.

Hence why I said former deplorable 🙂 (although I acknowledge that she used to be one).

A Democrat, trolling Republicans, for always punishing women for getting pregnant, but never the man's role in the pregnancy.

He has introduced state legislation declaring that “conception begins at erection.”

The bill would make it illegal for a man to masturbate or engage in any other sexual acts which would involve discharging “genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo.”

“There’s no need for an abortion bill if we regulate what men do,” state Senator Bradford Blackmon told WAPT-TV in Jackson.

You'll notice they never use the word "erection" in this TV News story, but does say "abortion."

I guess in Mississippi saying "abortion" in public is OK, because it involves a woman. However saying "erection" in public is a bridge too far, which involves a man.

Note the Bible only refers to pregnancy termination once. Exodus 21:22-25: If a pregnant woman has a miscarriage as a result of a fight, the offender is fined. It talks about rape and incest 9 times.

Mississippi lawmaker proposes ‘Contraception begins at erection’ bill

So grandma was correct - masturbation does make you stupid !

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

A neighbour of a January 6 thug is aghast at how he is welcomed back into the neighbourhood with open arms.

I bet there's probably quite a few neighbours like this scattered across the US - I would feel the same way she did if this had happened to me too.

he Oklahoma state government is under a Republican trifecta, meaning the Republican Party controls the governor's office and both chambers of the state legislature.

Oklahoma’s political silly season is here, rife with cockamamie legislative ideas | Opinion: The Oklahoman
...
Each year, without fail, Oklahomans are unlucky enough to bear witness to a parade of bills that would be hilariously funny if it were April Fools Day. Sadly, it’s not a joke when state lawmakers are wasting taxpayer resources filing ludicrous proposals they actually believe in or ― more likely ― hope will score them cheap political points.

For instance, please raise your hand if you’re participating in robotic cockfighting. Anyone? House Bill 1326, filed by a Republican, seeks to legalize fighting real roosters against robotic ones as long as the live bird doesn’t get hurt.
..
Then there’s a Republican measure proposing that we rename the Department of Corrections the Department of Corruption.
...
Speaking of convicted felons, we have another Republican lawmaker who has filed legislation seeking to protect President Donald Trump’s so-called “constitutional right” to vote in Oklahoma.
...
For starters, Trump doesn’t have a “constitutional right” to vote in Oklahoma because he doesn’t live here.
...
Then there are the two useless Republican bills that seem aimed at harming the homeless.

The first makes it a misdemeanor crime, punishable by up to a year in jail, to remove a shopping cart from a retail store.
...
A second bill allows municipalities to expend funds on one-way bus tickets to destinations out of state for their homeless. The bill does not require unhoused residents to agree to the removal, which raises some serious constitutional questions. If that becomes law,
...
And don’t get me started on the proposed “Covenant Marriage Act.” It proposes offering couples a $2,500 tax credit if they agree to be married forever. The only way to escape that would be if your spouse commits one of the terrible three “As” — abuse, adultery or abandonment.

And while we’re on the topic of trapping people in loveless marriages, that same Republican lawmaker wants to ban no-fault divorce. That means “incompatibility” would no longer be grounds to end a marriage. Legitimate grounds for divorce would include “insanity for a period of five years” that requires being institutionalized and a “poor prognosis for recovery.” It also would remove incarceration as grounds for divorce.

Bannon is rapidly becoming a yesterday man, something I imagine he recognises (hence the attention-seeking copycat Nazi salute). But the reality is that the orange buffoon has someone much more richer (financially) to snuggle up to now - he has no need for "my Steve" anymore, he's past his use-by date.

On 21 March 1933 Adolf Hitler was officially sworn in as chancellor of Germany. The same day he pardoned 8,000 Nazis, who had committed violent acts, starting with the failed Hitler coup on 8 November 1923.
THEY ARE COPVING ADOLF. IF YOU DON'T SEE IT YOU NEED DEPROGRAMMING

It is very easy to agree with things like that as many people have elsewhere, without checking the facts.

Reposting anything with without checking the facts is not sensible.

The first sentence is factually incorrect. The rest of it is of uncertain origin and doubtful value, although people of that nature definitely were pardoned.

Sorry - I'm trying not to do too many that might have facts masquerading as something else, although I admit it can be tricky. The satirical memes seem to be better.

Things do get simplified by Americans for Americans.

Full paragraphs, nuance  even multiple paragraphs are problematic.
As a boss once said just give me a couple of short bullet points. :-)

Democrats have been criticized by some for the speeches and facts.
Where they need something like the short punchy 'hate' of Modern GOP and Trumplicans.
Problem is its probably more short punchy 'hate'.

Anyhow. Maybe in years to come someone will make a movie called.

Winston Peters recently said:

"Why is someone who applied to come to this country in 2006 allowed to ask a question of this Parliament that changes this country's name without the referendum and sanction of the New Zealand people?"

Obviously the irony of people who have recently arrived in this place, namely, European settlers in colonial times, and deciding out of hand to change place names without consulting the local people is lost on him.

Personally, I don't care what we call this country. It is difficult but I have put in the study time to remember both names . Anybody who insists it must be called New Zealand must .... cope.
