Rikkitic: In a nice twist of karma, a Tennessee lawmaker who voted to expel two black colleagues has had to resign because of an ethics violation.

His version: "I had consensual adult conversations with two adults off property. I did not know that a workplace policy can be enforced when you’re not at work."

An intern had complained to legislative officials that Campbell had made sexual comments that left her feeling “progressively more afraid and uncomfortable.”

At least some people in the Republican party have the audacity to recognise and remove deplorables when they see them.

And another deplorable goes. I get the feeling this was rather abrupt as he gave no indication on Friday it was his last show, and according to all the sources I've seen this morning they were still advertising his show up until a few hours before the announcement was made.

He'll probably turn up on Newsmax or One America or one of those outlets for the far-right crowd now. Trump must be crying, or happy? So conflicting 😀

I wonder what's going to happen to all the January 6 footage that his BFF Kevin McCarthy gave him?

On the other channel Don Lemon was dumped:

CNN: CNN has parted ways with longtime host Don Lemon. The announcement Monday came without explanation and astonished the media industry. “Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years,” said CNN CEO Chris Licht in a memo to staff. “We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”

While this is likely driven by cost cutting and a change in strategy there are links in the article mentioning some nasty behavior towards female colleagues. In one sense Lemon has that in common with Carlson although the allegations against each are different in tone.

Please don't burn the messenger.

Fox News is not going away anytime soon. The average age of Fox News viewers is 69. Scaring and angering the elderly is just too lucrative.

No matter how many settlements and host "Fox News" loses, it is part of the Fox Corporation (Fox TV) stock

Fox posted profits of $321 million in the last three months of 2022, which means it can build back up its cash pile pretty quickly.

Shares of Fox closed 3% lower on Monday after dropping as much as 5% earlier in the day.

In the near-term, the financial impact on Fox may be minimal because advertisers typically book their slots in advance, but "if the ratings really crater" there could be an issue, according to Joseph Bonner, senior securities analyst.

The stock has had similar performance to the Nasdaq composite index.

Texas says to Florida: "you want crazy? We'll have a Texas judge try to outlaw an abortion drug nationwide, and raise you posting the 10 commandments in every classroom."

Time: Texas Senate Passes Bill to Put the Ten Commandments in Every Classroom

Texas state senators voted on Thursday to advance a bill that would require public schools to display the Ten Commandments in each classroom.

Texas and other states have made numerous previous attempts to enshrine the Ten Commandments in schools, but recent rulings from the conservative Supreme Court indicate that their efforts could be closer to fruition.

House bill, S.B. 1515, specifies that a poster or framed copy of the Ten Commandments, at least 16 inches by 20 inches, should be visible “conspicuously” in every classroom. The bill, which passed by a party line vote of 17 to 12, also requires that public schools accept any donations of such Ten Commandment posters and if the school has extra copies, they must donate them to other schools rather than discarding them.

Two other bills, including one that would allot time for students and school staff to pray and read their Bibles, were also passed.

Fox News is not going away anytime soon.

It's a generation that grew up without the internet. That will definitely change. MSNBC has far higher rating than CNN because MSNBC internet reach. I agree with your assessment above in part because Fox has an excellent digital position.

I am at a loss for happy words to describe my feelings about this. Now two things can happen:

  1. Without his megaphone, Carlson descends into alcoholic homelessness and is eaten by dogs.
  2. Carlson moves to an online site no-one has ever heard of, attracts an enormous audience, gets elected president for life, announces he is the son of god.

Interesting you say that - he's actually said he wouldn't want to be president ever.

My pick is he will eventually move somewhere less popular than Fox (think Newsmax or One America) but his entire Fox audience will not follow him. He will lose a portion of them if he moves to another platform. Question is, how much? Holmes lost almost all of his TV audience when he moved from TVNZ to Prime in early 2005.
