Deplorable is a strong word but Michael Wood isn't doing himself any favours to be popular, and is making life awkward for his boss.

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

Now why would he do a thing like that 🙄

DeSantis encouraging fear-mongering leads to a lot of shootings in Florida.

This weekend a person angrily knocking on a closed door led to the shooter firing through the closed door.

They're debating in Florida whether the overly broad and vague "stand-your-ground" self-defense applies when someone's on the other side of closed door.

The Florida Sherriff did a lot of soul-searching, and only reluctantly arrested the shooter, after bad press.

The Guardian: Black woman in Florida shot dead through front door by white neighbor

What a pity the rest of the Republican party doesn't behave like this.

George Santayana was Spanish American philosopher and writer. He's known for a lot of known for aphorisms, such as "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

I just came across this from Santayana which, believe it or not, was a universal rule for the animators of "Wile E Coyote and Road Runner."

It reminded me of some deplorables.

'"The coyote could stop at anytime - if he weren't a fanatic: "Fanaticism consists in redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim'"

This guy is pretty deplorable: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/jan-6-rioter-called-trump-dad-tased-fanone-get-14-years-doj-says-rcna88853

By the way, if you (somehow) see Trump as some sort of father figure...you have some serious issues.

"Fox News" is up to its old tricks ...

The NY Times - Fox News Chyron Calls Biden a ‘Wannabe Dictator’  (14 June 2023)

The onscreen text appeared Tuesday beneath split-screen footage of President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump, who had been charged with federal crimes hours earlier.

"Wannabe dictator speaks at the White House after having his political rival arrested."

Change "having" to "demanding" and and Fox would have it right about Donald "Lock her up" Trump.

Trump is happiest when hanging out with dictators.

Fox is also arguing that Trump shouldn't be arrested because he's running for President. If Trump won, he could order the attorney general to dismiss the case.

Back in March, Trump, at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, said he would "absolutely" stay in the race for president even if he were to be criminally indicted.

"I wouldn't even think about leaving," Trump told reporters ahead of his speech. "Probably it will enhance my numbers."

My biggest question about the saga is: what the heck kind of teenager buys shares?

‘Biggest Liar in the World’: South Africa Spokesperson Slammed Over Kyiv Air Raid Denials
Despite an entire city and the world’s media witnessing a Russian missile attack on the capital, Vincent Magwenya claimed he saw no evidence of “so-called explosions."
https://www.kyivpost.com/post/18368

""
Magwenya’s comments were swiftly taken up by Russian state media as evidence the missile attack was faked.

His comments drew heavy criticism on social media, with British journalist Oz Katerji saying: “Vincent Magwenya, I had never heard of you before today, but congratulations for making it to my ‘biggest liars in the world’ list in under 24 hours. That’s a new record.”
""

I expect that Ukrainians cleaning up Bucha will be seen by him as evidence the photos of it and the acts of Russians in many other Buchas are just made up.

You can see where this peace mission is going.

The NZ Human Rights Commission conducted an inquiry and produced a report on emergency housing which Meng Foon had been involved in deliberations for, while never adequately declaring his interest [over 2 million]

The "everybody does it" argument isn't great.

I know my grammar's not great. There are so many negative clauses in this quote from Meng Foon, I was left scratching my head.

"I've never seen in any board policy, especially the human rights one, that there is no rules or policy to actually declare financial information, there's nothing."

One News : 'I'm not an idiot': Meng Foon fronts over conflicts of interest

The NY Times - Justice Alito Defends Private Jet Travel to Luxury Fishing Trip

21 June

Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. took the unusual step late Tuesday of responding to questions about his travel with a billionaire who frequently has cases before the Supreme Court hours before an article detailing their ties had even been published.

In an extraordinary salvo in a favored forum, Justice Alito defended himself in a pre-emptive article in the opinion pages of The Wall Street Journal before the news organization ProPublica posted its account of a luxury fishing trip in 2008.

His response comes as the justices face mounting scrutiny over their ethical obligations to report gifts and to recuse themselves from cases involving their benefactors.

The latest revelations are sure to intensify calls for the court to adopt more stringent ethics rules.

(Justice Clarence Thomas remains silent.)  🧐
