https://www.politico.com/news/2023/11/03/john-eastman-trump-disbarment-culpable-00125219 >> ridiculous to see this deplorable still believing in the election fraud bs he was pushing back in 2020. I hope he never works in law ever again - he doesn't deserve to, IMO.
Also - a very interesting court case involving yet another deplorable: https://www.rawstory.com/mark-meadows-book-2666143318/
My $deity. NZME would even consider getting in bed with this bunch of right-wing conspiracy theorists, for the sake of money.

Thank Christ that didn't go ahead. Having said that, I think Plunket probably wouldn't have been too keen on it happening anyway - my gut feeling is Wright was behind that meeting; remember that Plunket worked for ZB previously and left after a very short time. I can't see him wanting to get back into bed with them again anytime soon.
UK political conservatives are no different and as deplorable as the American ones.
“I’ve never seen a bunch of people less well-equipped to run a country,” Case wrote to Sedwill in July 2020, when Case had the job of lead civil servant for Downing Street. “These people are so mad. Not poisonous towards me (yet), but they are just madly self-defeating.”
In an eye-opening vignette, Case said he had told Johnson that replacing another senior No 10 official had proved difficult because “lots of the top-drawer people I had asked had refused to come because of the toxic reputation of his operation”.
Another exchange between the pair, shown during Sedwill’s evidence, showed Case describing Johnson and the people around him as “basically feral”, to which Sedwill said in reply: “I have the bite marks.”
He agreed with testimony about Hancock being seen as not routinely honest, adding that he would regularly double-check things said by the minister with others “to make sure he wasn’t over-promising”.
One of the most consistent themes of the inquiry so far has been people who worked with Hancock being very rude about him. In Sedwill’s evidence it emerged he had urged Johnson to sack his health secretary to “save lives and protect the NHS”, a grimly humorous play on a Covid-era health slogan.
The inquiry heard that the then chancellor [Rishi Sunak, now PM] introduced his flagship “eat out to help out” hospitality scheme in summer 2020 without consulting the government’s Covid taskforce, leaving officials “blindsided” by the Treasury.
When it was first reported more than two years ago that Johnson remarked in autumn 2020 that he would rather “let the bodies pile high” than impose a new lockdown, his Downing Street spokesperson and ministers including Michael Gove said this was not true.
However, the witness statement of Lister – a longtime Johnson aide, loyalist and friend – confirmed it had been said. Lister’s statement also confirmed that early in the pandemic Johnson suggested he be injected with Covid on TV to prove it was not harmful.

Vivek Ramaswamy idea for US-Canada border wall labelled 'extreme' - BBC News
Since Donald Trump's presidency, the construction of an impenetrable wall at the US-Mexico border has become a common refrain among conservative politicians.
But one Republican presidential hopeful, Vivek Ramaswamy, wants to take the idea even further. His proposal: A wall along the 5,500 mile long (8,900km) US-Canada frontier.
At Wednesday's primary debate in Miami, the 38-year-old candidate argued that enough fentanyl crossed the border last year to "kill three million Americans".
His calls to tackle the trade by building a colossal border wall were quickly panned by experts.
The US - Canada border already have electronic sensors and other physical surveilance.

The NY Times - 3 Things We Learned From Ivanka Trump’s Trial Testimony
09 Nov 2023
Ivanka Trump spent five hours on the witness stand on Wednesday, two days after her father testified in a fraud trial that threatens his business empire as he kicks off another run for the White House.
1. She tried to distance herself from her father’s financial statements.
2. She was a more agreeable presence in the courtroom than her father, but "could not recall". A lot.
3. Justice Engoron had an easier day keeping control of his courtroom compared with Monday’s fireworks when Mr. Trump was on the stand.
After her testimony ended, the attorney general’s office rested its case.

He has officially filed a statement of interest to run for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District in Congress.
The move comes only months after the 35-year-old was released from a Phoenix halfway house having served about 27 months of his 41 month sentence.
