Only Fox News, and by extension US republicans, could view Taylor Swift's "get out the vote" campaign as a conspiracy / PsyOp.

Still it's consistent with the American forefathers, who of course had a number of slave owners. Benjamin Franklin was concerned the Anglo-Saxon whiteness of the colonies would be contaminated by “swarthy” races such as the French and Swedes. In a tiny rebuttal, Benjamin Franklin did say "all cats look the same in the dark."

The Hill: Pentagon pushes back on Taylor Swift conspiracy theory: ‘We are going to shake it off’

The Department of Defense clapped back at Fox News host Jesse Watters on Wednesday after he said Taylor Swift could be a “psyop” for the Pentagon.

“I wonder who got to her from the White House or wherever,” Watters said on his show Tuesday night. “Who makes that initial handshake.”

Waters was referencing a partnership between Swift and Vote.org intended to encourage young people to register to vote.

The remark spawned conspiracy theories suggesting Swift could be a government asset or part of a broader information campaign.

Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh shut down the speculation Wednesday in a statement to Politico.

“As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off,” she said, a tongue-in-cheek reference to one of the pop star’s hits.

“But that does highlight that we still need Congress to approve our supplemental budget request as Swift-ly as possible so we can be out of the woods with potential fiscal concerns,” she continued, adding more references to Swift hits.

If Taylor Swift is conspiring to encourage young people to vote, maybe the FBI can get Mulder and Scully to help her.

The Washington Post - Proud Boy who wielded ax handle and ‘fueled’ Jan. 6 riot sentenced

12 Jan 2024

A man wielding an ax handle while leading rioters and his group of Kansas City-area Proud Boys was sentenced Friday to 55 months in prison for adding what a judge said was “fuel to the fire” that drove a mob to attack the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. ...

Chrestman [a former Army medic] stood out among rioters. He was a tall bearded man who brought tactical gear, a helmet, gas mask and hard knuckle gloves. And he thanked followers “for helping us - Proud Boys” as he moved with members of the far-right group who marked themselves with orange tape.  ...

[Chrestman was among prison inmates singing the national anthem in a video that Trump used to launch his 2024 presidential campaign.]  😦

I feel for her kids and grandkids, having a God-awful role model like that. "If you don't get what you want, just go and protest! Grandma said it was okay!" 🙄

As to "been through enough", go and tell that to the families of the policemen who died. They've been through more than enough because of the actions of dumbarses like you.

You have to have some sort of brain defect to video yourself committing a crime.

A good way to tell if you're committing a crime? Your point-of-view recording has multiple law enforcement officers pointing guns at you, and you're close enough see centered on your head multiple pistols' square rear notch sights and a heavy square front blade sights.

You'll remember that speaker of the house Mike Johnson was deeply involved in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election based on false claims of mass election fraud, said that people should do their own research into the Capitol attack.

He said this: "We have to blur some faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don’t want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DOJ", (Department of Justice)

So here's a tiny bit of my own research, in the person who got, in Mike Johnson's words, DOJ retaliation:

"We're real American citizens. We're sick of it. and we're making it known that we're sick of it.

They can only kill so many of us.

There's gonna be a bigger civil war and a lot of bloodshed.

I drove 14 hours to get here and stood in the cold for three and a half hours to find out that Mike Pence is a f__king trader, man, and i voted for that f__king dude.

He could've done the right thing and certified those legislators, electors, and we wouldn't be standing here with a nine millimeter pointed at me right now!

We've got to hang a bunch of crooked congressman, we'll do that. "

I think Ron is having a bit of buyer's remorse for only sticking to the conservative/far-right outlets to spread his message (after having appeared on CNN the other night). What a pity that life doesn't give you do-overs.

Politico -  DC bar authorities file disciplinary charges against pro-Trump 2020 election lawyers

19 Jan 2024

Washington, D.C., bar investigators have filed disciplinary charges against three lawyers who aided Donald Trump ally Sidney Powell’s campaign to mount discredited legal challenges to the 2020 election results.

Filings made public Friday accused attorneys Juli Haller, Lawrence Joseph and Brandon Johnson of making knowingly false representations to courts about a slew of lawsuits they filed in the weeks after the 2020 election.

Joseph was directly involved in a lawsuit seeking to force Pence’s hand as Trump was pressuring him to assert unprecedented authority to choose the winner of the election. ...

Haller was instrumental in Powell’s so-called “Kraken” lawsuits, the nickname she gave to the campaign of ultimately unsuccessful litigation aimed at undoing Joe Biden’s victories in several swing states. ...

Johnson joined Haller in many of the Powell-related lawsuits and filings. ...

The charges against Haller, Johnson and Joseph will be heard by a committee of the D.C. Bar, and if they’re found culpable they could face sanctions ranging from reprimand to suspension to disbarment.

Obviously Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley argument is wrong since that the forefather's wrote “all men are created equal” while owning slaves, and the census counted slaves as 3/5 of a person.

Or closer to home for the Republicans: NBC News: Vivek Ramaswamy campaign still facing voter questions on race and religion days before Iowa

The Hill: Haley defends US has ‘never been’ racist remark: ‘Intent was to do the right thing’

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley defended her comment that the United States has “never been a racist country” Thursday, saying she believes the country’s “intent was to do the right thing.”

Haley said at a CNN town hall moderated by anchor Jake Tapper that she had to deal with “plenty of racism” as a daughter of Indian immigrants growing up in a rural town in South Carolina, but she is happy that her parents never told her that they live in a racist country.

Tapper asked her if she stood by the remark she made during a Tuesday interview on “Fox & Friends” that the country has “never” been racist, considering the country’s history with slavery — including that protections for slavery were written into the Constitution and that her home state of South Carolina seceded from the country ahead of the Civil War at least in part to defend slavery.

Haley cited the part of the Declaration of Independence that states that “all men are created equal” and their right to “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.”

The NY Times - Ron DeSantis Drops Out of Presidential Race and Endorses Trump

breaking

Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida suspended his campaign for president on Sunday, just two days before the New Hampshire primary election, and endorsed former President Donald J. Trump.

It marked a spectacular implosion for a candidate once seen as having the best chance to dethrone Mr. Trump as the Republican Party’s nominee in 2024. His departure from the race leaves Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, as Mr. Trump’s last rival standing. ...

While he had started the year leading Mr. Trump in New Hampshire, polls now showed Mr. DeSantis in a distant third place, drawing around 6 percent of the vote. ...

Good riddance! - he would have been an even Trumpier President than Trump, and young enough to stay in power for a long time.   🙄
