The Daily Beast: Fox News' Hannity sets the ‘record straight’ over ‘migrant’ beatdown

Fox News star Sean Hannity addressed on Thursday the vigilante-style gang beating that occurred live on his broadcast earlier in the week, acknowledging that Curtis Sliwa was wrong to claim the man his group attacked was a “migrant” shoplifter.
...
After showing the group roughing up the unnamed man, Hannity moved on to another story before welcoming Sliwa back to explain what happened.

“Well, he had been shoplifting first. The Guardian Angels spotted him and stopped him. He resisted. And let’s just say, we gave him a little pain compliance,” Sliwa proclaimed while Hannity laughed. “His mother back in Venezuela felt the vibrations. He’s sucking concrete. The cops scraped him off the asphalt.”

However, according to the New York Police Department, almost nothing [vigilante] Sliwa said was true (The Guardian Angels founder has a history of making up stories.) The man in question is a longtime New York resident who lives in the Bronx, police said. Additionally, he had not been shoplifting, though he was issued a disorderly conduct summons by police for heckling the Guardian Angels during the live Fox News broadcast.

New Zealand deplorable: Swastika on top of South Canterbury panel beaters labelled ‘grossly insensitive’ - NZ Herald

And looking at the photo is not only a swastika but also SS lightning bolts just on top of it, which the paper failed to mention (probably the journalist doesn't even understand)

And the owner said:

When approached by the Herald the owner of the building, Jake Rayner, said he put the swastika up to “draw attention or something”.

“It’s not my ideology. Nothing draws attention like a swastika,” Rayner said.

In my opinion, if you double down on a swastika and the SS bolts, there's only one explanation - it's not marketing but simple racism.

The NY Times - Suozzi wins New York special election, replacing George Santos

breaking

Democrat Tom Suozzi won a hotly contested special election for Congress on Tuesday, the Associated Press projected, retaking a seat in suburban New York and offering his party some reassurance amid high anxiety about President Biden’s political vulnerabilities.

Suozzi beat Republican nominee Mazi Pilip to replace Republican George Santos, who was indicted for fraud and then expelled from Congress late last year amid revelations that he fabricated much of his life story.

Suozzi’s victory capped a long list of Democratic wins in recent special elections ...

EDIT: updated result

Even if it is 'just' marketing it is completely utterly totally unacceptable. Anyone who doesn't understand that really needs to study some history. People who play with this are vile backward inexcusable morons!

How ironic that she describes herself as a "strong conservative woman" when Hunter Biden is in the room and leaves when she starts to speak, but runs away in a huff if she gets challenged on something 🙄

What the hell. Stupid is as stupid does.

Last month, Fox News host Jesse Watters speculated that Swift might be “a front for a covert political agenda” — which a Pentagon spokesperson shook off. Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro also urged Swift to not “get involved in politics. We don’t wanna see you there.”

Why? Are you jealous? Scared? Spare me.

New York Times: Tucker Carlson’s Lesson in the Perils of Giving Airtime to an Autocrat

The death of Aleksei Navalny, the Kremlin’s most vocal domestic opponent, prompted fresh criticism on Friday of the right-wing host’s recent interview with Vladimir Putin.

Tucker Carlson left Moscow more than a week ago, riding high from an interview with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia that returned him to the spotlight after his abrupt cancellation by Fox News last spring.

But the interview with the wartime autocrat, mocked in various corners of the political-media world for its soft touch, continues to have a long and tortured afterlife — becoming a trending topic all over again on Friday after Mr. Putin’s most vocal domestic opponent, Aleksei A. Navalny, turned up dead in a Russian prison.

“This is what Putin’s Russia is, @TuckerCarlson,” Liz Cheney, the former Republican congresswoman from Wyoming, wrote on X after the news of Mr. Navalny’s death broke on Friday. “And you are Putin’s useful idiot.”

Naomi Biden, President Biden’s granddaughter, also weighed in, pointing to a video that Mr. Carlson had recently posted in which he contrasted the supposed splendors of Russia under Mr. Putin’s leadership with the “filth and crime” of the United States. “Has anything aged so poorly, so quickly before?” Ms. Biden wrote on X.

In a statement to The New York Times on Friday, Mr. Carlson said: “It’s horrifying what happened to Navalny. The whole thing is barbaric and awful. No decent person would defend it.”

The comment represented a notable change in tone from earlier this week, when he appeared to offer a blasé opinion regarding Russia’s treatment of Mr. Navalny, who was first imprisoned three years ago on charges of corruption and “extremism” that the United States called baseless.

Asked at a conference in Dubai on Monday why he had not questioned Mr. Putin about Russia’s free speech crackdown, Mr. Navalny’s jailing or suspected political assassinations, Mr. Carlson said those were “the things that every other American media outlet talks about.” (Mr. Carlson was, in fact, the first Western media figure to interview Mr. Putin in more than two years.)

But, Mr. Carlson said then, “leadership requires killing people — sorry, that’s why I wouldn’t want to be a leader” — comments that came under still more criticism after Mr. Navalny’s death.

US speaker of the house Mike Johnson has failed miserably on his show-trial: ,a House impeachment inquiry into Biden.

A second witness indicted for lying. Previously it was a witness with ties to China, who sold arms to the Libyans.

Mike Johnson continues Trump's legacy of "only the brightest and best" :(

The Guardian: FBI informant charged with lying about Bidens’ role in Ukraine business

An FBI informant has been charged with lying to his handler about ties between Joe Biden, his son Hunter and a Ukrainian energy company.

Alexander Smirnov falsely told FBI agents in June 2020 that executives associated with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma paid Hunter and Joe Biden $5m each in 2015 and 2016, prosecutors said on Thursday.

Smirnov told the FBI that a Burisma executive had claimed to have hired Hunter Biden to “protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems”, prosecutors said in a statement.

The allegations became a flashpoint in Congress over the summer as Republicans demanded the FBI release the unredacted form documenting the allegations as they pursued investigations of Biden and his family. They acknowledged at the time that it was unclear if the allegations were true.

The new development sharply undermines the thrust of congressional Republicans’ corruption accusations that the US president was making money from his son Hunter’s business dealings in Ukraine.

Smirnov, 43, appeared in court in Las Vegas briefly on Thursday after being charged with making a false statement and creating a false and fictitious record.
...
The informant’s claims have been central to the Republican effort in Congress to investigate the president and his family, and helped spark what is now a House impeachment inquiry into Biden.

Prosecutors say Smirnov had contact actually took place in 2017, after Barack Obama, the US president, and Biden, his vice-president, had left office.
