I find this deplorable:

Former Green MP Golriz Ghahraman has appealed her shoplifting convictions.

Ghahraman pleaded guilty to four charges of shoplifting following an investigation which found she had stolen around $8367 worth of clothing from three shops in Wellington, Ponsonby and Newmarket in 2023.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/350450133/former-green-mp-golriz-ghahraman-appeals-shoplifting-convictions

On June 27, Judge June Jelas declined Ghahraman’s request for a discharge without conviction and ordered her to pay a fine of $1600 and court costs of $260.

Through her lawyer Annabel Cresswell, Ghahraman appealed the convictions at the Auckland High Court on Monday.

Cresswell told Justice Geoffrey Venning the convictions may impact Ghahraman’s June 2024 job application at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

She pleaded guilty - she was convicted. Now she wants a do-over because she wants a job as a lawyer? SHE BROKE THE LAW - SHE ADMITTED IT!

Inmates running the asylum.

What could possibly happen ?

Delay delay delay. Just like all those overseas postal votes from the good men and women of the US armed forces having their votes not counted because they normally are not finished counting on the day and he only wants those votes counted on the day to be valid.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Louis DeJoy, famous for not just decommissioning fully working and required sorting machines, but then having destroyed sorting machines just before last election to ensure.
Plus other interference with services to make postal votes late.

Biden, Harris following the norms with these appointments did not move to replace him, while Trump has repeatedly said that his election would be followed by a complete clean out. Along with the other Purge, and Police Day of Rage.

He is still there, standing by for his leader.

You'll remember Alex Jones' personal assets to be sold to pay debt to Sandy Hook families. He promoted false claims about the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, in which 20 children and six adults were killed in the US. For years, Jones repeatedly claimed that the shooting was a "hoax," staged by the US government to promote stricter gun control laws. He asserted that the victims' families were "crisis actors," implying that the massacre had been faked and that the grieving parents were part of a broader conspiracy.

These baseless claims led to severe harassment of the victims' families. Many of them were subjected to threats, online abuse, and harassment by individuals who believed Jones' false narrative. Some families were forced to move multiple times due to death threats and other forms of intimidation. The harassment included phone calls, emails, and confrontations in public, as conspiracy theorists accused them of lying about their children's deaths

So I guess Elon Musk, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Alex Jones still have more money than common sense
  • Dominion Voting Systems v. Fox News Network: Fox News agreeing to pay $787.5 million

  • Dominion Voting Systems v. Rudy Giuliani: Dominion sued Rudy Giuliani for defamation, seeking $1.3 billion

  • Dominion Voting Systems v. Sidney Powell: Similar to the Giuliani case, Dominion is seeking $1.3 billion in damages from Sidney Powell
Dominion Calls Out 'Lies' Amid New Elon Musk, Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims: NewsWeek

Dominion Voting Systems, which manufactures voting machines used across the U.S., says it is prepared to counter "lies" and "seek accountability from those who spread them" regarding its voting systems and election integrity following a revival of 2020 conspiracy claims from Elon Musk and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.

In the past few years, Dominion has been at the center of several election integrity conspiracy theories. In 2020, supporters of former President Donald Trump falsely claimed that Dominion machines had "flipped" votes from Trump to President Joe Biden. Others claimed the machines deleted Trump votes altogether.

Despite the claims being repeatedly debunked, Representative Greene and tech billionaire Musk separately cast doubt on Dominion systems in speeches this week.

Dominion has filed dozens of lawsuits against individuals and media organizations that have spread the misinformation. Fox News settled one suit for $787.5 million.

In a Saturday update on its webpage titled "Setting the Record Straight: Facts About Dominion," the company reiterated that the claim has been "repeatedly debunked." It also noted that "a record-breaking 1.1 million voters in the state of Georgia" have cast their ballots using Dominion machines. Georgia is a key battleground state in the tight 2024 presidential election.

The update comes the day after Greene, a Trump loyalist, said during an interview with Infowars conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that "someone" saw their Trump vote change after casting a ballot on a Dominion machine this year in Georgia. She also wrote on social media that it happened in her district in Whitfield County, Georgia.

"They marked Donald Trump and they marked who they were voting for the rest of the way down their ballot on the machine," Greene said. "When this voter printed their ballot and they looked, it had changed. It was not Donald Trump, it was not me and it was not the other ones they had voted for. It had switched."

"So they had to start over, and they went through it several times and it kept on making the same error," she continued. "It kept on switching the votes.... It sounds similar to what we heard in 2020."

The NY Times - Judge Orders Giuliani to Forfeit Millions in Assets to Election Workers He Defamed

breaking

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered Rudolph W. Giuliani to turn over most of his possessions and available cash to a receivership controlled by the two Georgia election workers he defamed after the last presidential election.

Mr. Giuliani, 80, has seven days to make the transfer, which includes his New York condominium and his vintage Mercedes-Benz, once owned by the actress Lauren Bacall.

The judge also ordered him to turn over certain pieces of furniture, his television, sports memorabilia, jewelry and 26 watches ...

Once the transfers are made, the two election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, can begin selling the assets and putting the proceeds toward the more than $148 million a federal jury determined he owes them.

Short summary:

In Florida, a pregnant woman with brain cancer was refused an abortion, even though having the baby would literally kill her. The woman created a TV spot.

Ron DeSantis, the current Florida governor, and former Republicans presidential candidate, didn't like a pro-abortion rights commercial discussing the case, and proposing a state amendment overturning the 6-weeks abortion ban.

Ron DeSantis sent cease-and-desist letters threatening criminal prosecutions to TV stations showing the TV spot. A judge ruled Ron's actions were illegal; Ron was attempting to stifle protected freedom of speech. "Law and Order" Ron went ahead and sent a second set of illegal letters, ignoring the judge's ruling.

After all that, Ron secretly threatened the State health director with two choices: either signing a letter supporting DeSantis or signing a resignation letter.

There’s New Evidence Against Ron DeSantis in Abortion Censorship Case: Slate

On Oct. 3, TV stations across Florida received letters from the state’s Department of Health threatening prosecution if they continued airing an advertisement in support of Amendment 4, the ballot initiative that would overturn the state’s six-week abortion ban. These letters were signed by John Wilson, who was then serving as the department’s general counsel; they threatened jail time for any media outlet that refused to take down the pro-choice ad. Floridians Protecting Freedom—which sponsored the ad, along with Amendment 4 itself—filed suit against Wilson.

When their lawyers arrived at a Tallahassee courthouse for a hearing last Thursday, they were approached by Wilson’s personal attorney. According to sources in the courtroom, Wilson’s attorney offered Floridians Protecting Freedom’s legal team a declaration from her client. It was a bombshell: The document alleged that Gov. Ron DeSantis’ top advisers, not Wilson, had concocted the entire scheme to censor ads for Amendment 4. The governor’s advisers drafted the threatening letters, then compelled Wilson to sign them. Wilson sent out the first round of letters, but resigned after DeSantis’ office pressured him to send more. He was now cooperating with the plaintiffs who had sued him just 24 hours earlier. The defendant had become a whistleblower.

The NY Times - Man Who Attacked Paul Pelosi Is Sentenced to Life in Prison

29 Oct 2024

David DePape, the intruder who broke into the home of Nancy Pelosi two years ago and bludgeoned her husband with a hammer, was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The sentencing by a San Francisco judge in state court brings to an end the legal cases against Mr. DePape, whose attack on the Pelosi household days before the 2022 midterm elections raised fears of political violence and underscored the toxic nature of politics in a polarized country.

Mr. DePape had, in the years before the attack, become immersed in the darker corners of the internet and embraced conspiracy theories like Pizzagate and QAnon. ...
