Even though the election has been and gone, there's still a few good cartoons around:

(this last one goes out to the election deniers out there who started making noises when a couple of people reported problems with voting early in the night - issues that were quickly rectified - yet those same people went absolutely silent as the night wore on and it was obvious Trump was going to win, isn't that strange? 🙄):

I see Jack Smith is now winding up (officially "pausing") all his prosecutions. What a cop-out. I mean, yes, it is obvious at this point that Trump will never be held accountable for his crimes. But if it were me, I would have put the accelerator to the floor and did everything I could to keep pressing forward right up until my boss' boss' boss walked into my office and fired me. I would MAKE HIM break the law that one last time and illegally drop the prosecutions against himself.

For someone who has obviously dedicated their life to upholding the law to just shrug and walk away from a prosecution that literally makes or breaks the rule of law is incredible. Yes, again, I'm fully aware what the final outcome would be even if he did press ahead. But this is where you have to fight to the end even so.

You have assumed that the courts will also carry on. The Supreme Court is clearly not going to allow it.

The biggest problem will be document/evidence destruction.

THEN comes the resignations right through out the country , all the 3 letter agencies, military, diplomatic services, immigration, boarder patrols, etc etc.
How many of the worlds best and brightest foreign immigrants will chose to leave, no longer feeling safe. R&D, Education, etc etc will be hit and you can not just magic up new people.
How big a hit the food production system will take.

I know the Supreme Court would stop it. That's not the point. The point is to make them, all of them, break the law that one last time rather than just roll over and accept it. All that other stuff you mentioned isn't going to happen between today and 15 minutes after Trump is inaugurated, which is approximately how long it will take for him to give the order.

The Constitution says he can't run for a third term. But yes, I'll grant you that I wouldn't put it past him to try it on for another term - he's already said he wanted to "terminate" the Constitution and make himself into a dictator. Hopefully there are enough sensible Republicans around (yeah right) to tell him in 2028 that he can't run again.

Nope, they will clean up, tidy up and exit the country.

They know Trumped up charges in January will be coming .

Trump breaking the law would not be needed. The Department of Justice has a longstanding policy that it does not prosecute sitting presidents, apparently.

Anyways, I believe the Attorney General would need to approve the prosecution and the AG will be a Trump presidential appointment.

Pause, I don't really know what that means presumably that leaves some room for a hypothetical future post-Trump AG to 'unpause' the prosecution. Pause may be the best strategic move. Assuming, the DOJ remains robust enough to retain evidence etc etc in the interim period 🤞

The photographic evidence from Epstein's safe never saw the light of day after the FBI retrieved it...while Trump was president.

So the chances of evidence surviving is less than the chances of Trump volunteering to return secret documents.
