Judith Collins still in the inner circle.
Winston might have got quote of the day with ' Mathematical Morons' :-)

ACT really likes Pseudoephedrine, promising to have it on the shelves by flu season.
Is this a big thing?

Banning it was a dumb knee-jerk policy in the first place. "What's that? It's illegal to buy pseudoephedrine? I guess that's the end of our illegal drug manufacturing business, boys. Pack it up!" said no P-cooker ever.

It's ok though, we were allowed to buy phenylephrine instead - you know, the one that studies show performs no better than placebo - and the meth problem just went away overnight, so it was a great trade.

The funny thing is the National coalition revoking a National law.

Great progress, guys.

actual wording of the 2 deals, if anyone interested

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/301014763/coalition-deals-uncut-what-act-and-nz-first-each-agreed-with-national

Thanks, a good post

A quick skim, it "seems" ACT got a number of tangible things across the line, NZF seems more of a campaign list, improve this improve that

I haven't read it all though yet

Yep, they're also stopping work on He Puapua (which they commissioned) and affirming that the UNDRIP (which they signed) has no binding legal effect on NZ.

I also look forward to the boot camps having a very short life, given --

I'm imagining the media in a smoky room with lotsa coffee cups and magnifying glasses examining the deals. Didn't Winston call them mathematical morons?

Trying to see if the rebate / dirty car tax thing is history. It was talked about, and is expected by the industry, but no announcements etc

Repeal the clean car discount is listed under the Tax section in the agreement with Act.

Repealing the discount is one bit. Have they used it as a catch-all for the high emitting vehicles levies? There is no timeline there either. Could be 31/12, could be 01/04.

There are a significant number of issues I have with these agreements but the worst is the WFF abatements not moving.

I hate to let facts get in the way of a good story but if Wikipedia can be trusted:

He Puapua
Controversial New Zealand report

He Puapua ("A break") is a report commissioned in 2019 by the New Zealand Government to inquire into and report on appropriate measures to achieve the goals set out by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.....
The results of the working group remained hidden from public view until early 2021, when it was leaked to the National and ACT parties, causing significant controversy and a debate on the constitutional foundation of the country.

Not meaning to aggravate but IIRC you have been keen on tax thresholds adjustments. I am too, from a similar past background. In my skimming so dont quote me, the tax thresholds under National will be 2026 (if the economy allows) . Under the Coalition that has been canned?

Happy to be corrected. I see that as foreign buyers has been canned, school lunches for the underpriviledged "is being looked at" Inferring other cuts to make up the 3B deficit.

I will wait till the media dissect all this
