Willis is obviously not afraid of decision making but I hear here on RNZ in the mornings and it makes me really miss the ability of Key, English, Ardern (even Hipkins is good at this) at speaking off the cuff and actually engaging in a conversation that goes beyond sloganeering.

Helen Clark was also good at actually engaging in a content based discussion. She didn't have the charisma of Key or Ardern but the quality of the intellect was pretty obvious.

Another poll showing National behind Labour - and this one comes from National's own pollster (the Taxpayers union crowd). Sure a lot can happen in 18 months but if I was Luxon I'd be wanting to eventually arrest this trend from continuing.

The problem however is that involves Luxon actually doing -something-, and not just sitting in chair that's in the corner of every hotel room watching things passively.

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/544425/christopher-luxon-open-to-adopting-some-of-nz-first-s-anti-woke-proposals

This is utterly ridiculous. I really hope the current polls (https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/544327/chris-hipkins-overtakes-christopher-luxon-as-preferred-prime-minister-in-taxpayers-union-curia-poll labour with 62 seats in a coalition with tpm and greens and nact nzf at 58) prove themselves in next election. I also hope this bill never gets drawn. I actually cannot believe we are taking almost the same steps as Trump and Musk.

Aotearoa prides itself on diversity and from all walks in life. This is gross.

Utterly nonfugfriendlyword ridiculous.

In the next election Luxon will probably play the Winston and Seymour made me do it, Card.
Anything unpopular will have nothing to do with National.
Though National circles seem to like this and moderates seem to have exited.

Give me a larger majority and you will see what a truly decent bloke I am.
New Zealand ethos of egalitarian society and getting along together is so woke.

Woke is just a label for anything you don't like.
Much like Putin calls every one who disagrees with him a Nazi
The old whaleoilers are just cheering this on with Brian Tamaki and 'Manning Up'.

Peter Thiel said once that he added NZ to his passport collection due to the New Zealand ethos aligned with his own.
Mr Thiel of course believes in a world led by testosterone men no democracy, Brian Tamaki's ethos.
Well except for religion, but to Brian religion is 'His' money and power, so more similar that it appears.

While also trying to be the big leader who is definitely the one in charge and nobody walks over him because he's the boss.

Not directly related to Luxon, but one of the providers of this year's hideous school lunches has gone into liquidation:

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/544429/school-lunches-provider-libelle-group-auckland-goes-into-liquidation

So, what's Seymour going to do now? He thinks there will be no impact on what's happening currently. I suppose they couldn't exactly get much worse, could they?

There was never a way to make decent school lunches at the price point he mentioned multiple times.

Listening to one of the workers on RNZ this evening, they were also expected to scale up production by 6x between their previous contract last year and the beginning of this year. That kind of scale up in that amount of time seems like a pretty difficult target even if you're cashed up. But they were trying to do it on subsistence payments. It's no wonder they've failed. I really feel bad for them.

GV27: Hipkins strongly hinting the Labour platform will involve inheritance taxes at his major policy speech last week. The Nats may not even need someone likeable, just one that sounds vaguely competent. Personally I'd say Bishop is the most likely cab off the rank. I'm not seeing anyone else in that line-up that screams leadership material. Willis is obviously not afraid of decision making but I hear here on RNZ in the mornings and it makes me really miss the ability of Key, English, Ardern (even Hipkins is good at this) at speaking off the cuff and actually engaging in a conversation that goes beyond sloganeering.

If this is the Hipkins speech I don't see anything Hipkins said as pointing to inheritance taxes. There is "People’s chance of success is more closely tied to what they inherit than what they earn through their own hard work" in the context of a general point about household costs and income. Later on Hipkins makes two points about National's choice to prioritise "tax cuts for landlords".

Later on Hipkins says: "When I look across the Tasman at why our young people might be attracted to Australia, I see an economy with high savings rates, large domestic pools of capital, Research and Development incentives and yes, a tax system that encourages investment in local businesses and new jobs, not just houses."

None of that looks like an inheritance tax proposal.

It looks like they had been doing badly for a while, which leads me to query why they were selected in the first place? Surely at the time Seymour made his grand announcement the company must have known things were starting to go south?

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/544468/school-lunch-provider-libelle-group-auckland-financially-struggling-for-months-liquidator-says

The [Libelle] worker said the company was struggling.

"Last year they did 20,000 lunches a week and this year they were trying to do 120,000 a week, so I mean two or three times [as much] is possibly doable, but six times is quite a lot isn't it?"

Also relevant is last year they were doing the 20,000 at around $9 a throw, but trying to do 120,000 at $3 each - I can kinda see how and why they were losing money.

How the hell do you get a $3 meal from Australia???

Seriously, Seymour, stop being so frikken' obstinate, admit your little scheme to "save money" hasn't worked (stop lying about all those glowing e-mails you've apparently received as well but won't release) and just go back to what wasn't broken before!
