networkn: I've never been impressed with shirts I've had made by a tailor.

May I recommend Sir visits Messrs Harvie & Hudson of 96-97 Jermyn Street, London when next in the city? Be assured, you will be impressed with the shirts, if not the account rendered.

Being refunded $3.61 from the IRD.

The cost of assessing and issuing the refund would exceed that amount many, many times over. Thus, by refunding such a nugatory amount, they spend more taxes which will in due course be levied.

Perhaps if it's happened enough times to annoy you, you could take some glue along to give them.

The difficult thing I have is finding fabric and patterns I like, often what it looks like on the roll is different to what which is produced in the end. It's not the fault of the Tailor in those instances. Having said that having had about 10 shirts made for me over a long period, I just never end up feeling the premium produced a better overall experience. I am sure if I spent enough money I could get something, but the desire isn't there.

Perhaps the glue is why they stand in the way, unable to move?

Nope he said it was because they didn't have a glue. I buy mine from the hardware store, bigger selection in the first instance.

Maybe this would annoy them even more. Anyway - they don't have any of both :-)

I got $4.06.  This was not this years assessment, but a balanced carried forward since 2008 that they had refused to do anything about until now, despite asking if it could be sorted, or included in a previous refund.  Like, any of the previous 11 years for example.  Any time I asked, they made some comment about it being a mistake and it would correct itself.

If only we could charge them the same instant penalties and accrued interest that they charge us for being 3 microseconds late on any payment.

Bizarre, isn't it? I had around $100 in there and I asked about it by phone. I was told that it wasn't possible to get it back because it was more than seven years old. The following year I noticed a box on the tax return called something like "use existing credit towards this return" so I ticked it... and they paid me the $100.

Dubai standard time.

"Yes sir, that will take 2 hours." 4 hours later, still going.

"Only 15 minutes more sir, inshallah..."

I thought "guys ... who have no glue" was a euphemism. :)

I used to look at the cars in front spaced well apart and try to mind control them to pull up. Now have a car with parking sensors that seem to come on under about 4km/h and have to leave plenty of space to avoid being doorbelled. Just because it looks like 10 cars will fit in the next block now means 8 if you're lucky.

They must buy their clocks from the same place that Wairarapa tradesmen do.
