Paying $80 to enter a running race. (Half Marathon in this case). I run for fun and fitness and occasionally like to participate in running events, but not for $80. Boo  :(

As per above poster. Try organising your own race for less than $80 per participant and see if you come out on top.

Spending 25 minutes discussing something that takes 45 seconds to do! Argh.

Facebook being *&%&^ useless pricks.

Got a random friend request this morning from an obviously bogus account.

I've censored some words for the fragile souls amongst us and I've cropped out the image of the Sexy Lady. Obviously I haven't visited the link provided.

So of course I report it.

We reviewed the profile you reported and found that it doesn't go against any of our Community Standards. If there's something specific on this profile that you think we should review (e.g. a photo), please report the content itself. We want to keep Facebook safe and welcoming for everyone, so thanks again for taking the time to report this.

It was nice of them to review it so quickly but it's quite obviously a dodgy account. Do they just use some AI to review accounts for a few red flags? No bloody wonder people get Facebook scammed. No wonder Facebook can't keep a lid on extremist content. They're deadset useless!

I've seen an increase in these in the last month or two. I'm not sure what the point of them is, are the trying to befriend as many people as possible and then start spamming people?

Invented words that are entirely unnecessary, viz this from Interislander in an email:

"Shoewear must be worn at all times"

WT* is "shoewear"?! You mean "shoes" - a perfectly good word, around for hundreds of years.

The writer's brain mixed shoe with footwear, which is an acceptable term. This happens. You are being unduly critical.

”footwear” are items you wear on a foot, including socks, jandals, shoes, gumboots, waders, sandals, work boots.

what items do you wear with shoes?

”shoewear” is a nonsensical term, and illustrative of the plummeting standards of literacy and critical thinking capabilities. It is not acceptable.

Geektastic is right to highlight this.

Web sites that have an enlargeable photo of an item of interest, but when the photo is enlarged it is the same size or even smaller than the main view.

Or it's "bigger" but is actually the same photo, digitally zoomed in.  So you don't get any additional details anyway.

Respectfully disagree. Socks are a grey area but unless jandals, gumboots, waders, sandals and work boots are specifically excluded, I would assume the writer probably meant 'footwear' but mangled it with shoes, which are also footwear. I can't know for certain, of course. I am being charitable.

The point is to send out bulk friend requests. Some proportion of those recipients will be blinded by boobies and click on the dodgy link only to end up the victim of some kind of a scheme. If Facebook was interested in their credibility they would close these accounts when reported.
