Just to add to this. All new connections from around the start of May will have circuit based auth enabled by default - This is required to enable IPoE. We are working through our backend inventory data to retroactively enable it for all other connections. We hope the first batch will have it enabled in the next couple of weeks. As @VygrNetworkMonkey said however just flick us a message and we can manually sort it out for you if need be.

Thats certainly not expected!
There is no physical difference in service between PPP and IPoE - it's the same BNG, same authentication server etc.

Getting the actual owner to contact support, while possible, will be a nuisance and is likely to cause confusion.

There is no current timeframe (at least nothing concrete) when we will convert all current connections.

I must offer an apology here... The same day we posted this here Chorus announced their intention to complete a significant price increase for all UFB services, including hyperfibre. We have made the decision to increase our pricing from the outset.

 

As such our pricing has been adjusted to:

 

Hyperfibre 2000 - $149
Hyperfibre 4000 - $179

 

Residential is incl GST, Business is excl GST.

 

Also, we encountered a UI issue with our ordering tool so it's not today it's on the website, it should be tomorrow.

 

Sorry for the inevitable disappointment here. If you DM me I can provide some more details if you'd like.

The last happened October last year and next is January next.

Does that mean with the new pricing (for a price change from Chorus that is yet to happen) Voyager confirms it'll NOT raise its prices again once Chorus rolls out any price increase?

Yea I have to agree with Murphy on this one,

 

Its great to see HF offering from more RSP's but to put the price up 5 months out from an increase which is still in negotiations and to be fair its going up 7% so about 6 odd dollars for you guys.

 

At $149 you are to far off the mark for me on this one, Ill stick with my current hyper fiber.

 

If I was you guys I would look more closely at this increase.

In recent years the price increases have got to a level that we can't simply absorb them. This is not a Voyager specific thing and all ISPs have gone through price increases. As we are releasing this as a contracted term of 12 months we have opted to do the increase now, secure the price for us and our customers, and not have to do an increase on these products come January.

 

I understand this is a side of ISPs that people really don't like. Especially because the trend until recently has been a decrease in overall pricing. These price decreases were mostly due to economies of scale in ethernet based capacity increases (100G+ cost efficiencies); This caused a relative decrease in costs for backhaul services, peering and transit, as well as lowering costs for hardware. Over the last few years all other components of providing service have began increase tipping the scales the other way.

We are hopeful this should see the stabilisation of prices in the near future.

I can't justify stretching to that just for more speed when I am trying to cut spending so I hopefully have some spare cash to take advantage of recession induced good deals.
