Was scheduled for the 8th Feb then put off until the 29th March!

all the best mate last year when they were due to install it the first day they didn't show up and the 2nd time they said they dont have the ont with them the 3rd time they came and installed it and the connection wasn't activating the guy who installed it uploaded the settings in the wrong format or something 4th time they installed a new one and it was all good...

Can you drop any hints on the DHCP/IPoE timeline? I signed up today (live within an hour of signup, that's amazing), but my speeds have dropped from 900/500 to 400/300 I think entirely due to my FortiGate 60E being particularly bad at PPPoE (one core is maxed out during a full speed download).

Is it worth waiting, or should I go and buy a Draytek or something to handle PPPoE for me?

Hey @wipash - stoked to have you onboard, welcome! 🙌

No official timeline yet sorry, but looking at the current projects inflight, I'd say this is more around the 3 month mark at least sorry (but again, just a guess) - so may pay to put something like a DrayTek in between.

Another pro tip is getting your PPPoE standing up with a 1500-byte MTU (might need to also raise your interface to 1508 so the PPPoE headers fit). This cuts a lot of the CPU strain out as significantly reduces any packet fragmentation.

No worries, thanks for the tip! Upping the interface MTU from 1500 to 1508 got me an extra 60Mbps in both directions.

I've made the switch - ordered the 2gb/s hyperfibre and then also got them to move my 1gb/s standard connection while I wait, great so far - logged it sometime this morning and it was done and the 1gb/s service was switched by lunch time which is incredible service. This is off the back of an email last night asking whether I could switch to them while I wait for the hyperfibre chorus change! Incredibly responsive, they're super awesome team.

+1 behind the request for @quic to ditch PPoE from me. I've tuned PFSense for those that are interested / using it to help with multicore performance of PPOE. Most NICs hashing functions are IPv4 address based and PPOE does not contain IPv4 frames so doesn't get hashed in hardware, therefore ends up in queue0 in BSD single threaded. Overall though - it's line rate now with 1gb/s at 8% CPU overall but that would be near 30-40% at 4gb/s in future which would be unfortunate.

Can set these under system tuneable:

Setting the ethernet interface to 1508 MTU and then setting the PPoE sub interface to 1500 is worth it as per @quic regular recommendation.

No issues with ipv6 configuration - as long as tracked interfaces are set correctly on internal side, stood straight up as i'd expect. They've mentioned they're committed to establishing a WLG based POP which would be good. Quic WLG Customer to Quic WLG Customer - WG VPN would be around 40ms - in future that will be 2-3ms when established.

These guys are awesome overall, highly recommend!

Hey @hsvhel,

No intention specifically at this point. Businesses are welcome to signup, however will be just under standard LFC SLA's for fault restoration etc. Just like for any customer, the service is still self-service.

Ultimately in short, we don't place any difference on whether we're provisioning to a residential or business address - it's the same service. :-)

im on quic hyper fiber and just ordered a two 2.5g network cards to make my own router using a i7 pc ..

till i get the items ready i moved to the normal gig plan and is there any way to enable the 10gig port instead of port 1

Welcome on board, @aj6828!

In terms of your question to have the non-Hyperfibre plans on the 10G port, theoretically this is possible, however our standard is for the non-Hyperfibre plans, we provision them onto the 1G ports on the ONT, which leaves the 10G port free if you were to pickup a Hyperfibre plan, either through us or another ISP.

In other words, where it's not needed, we don't touch the 10G port, as there's only one of them! Therefore we leave it for when it's really needed. Hope this makes sense!

Thanks mate totally makes sense..
I was thinking that my router has a 2.5g wan, and with the 10gig port ,I want be really bottle necking the router to the ont instead of running the connection on a 1gig link will I see any advantage if I swap to the 10gig port? Thanks really appreciate your input.
