@quic

Any plans to host a Speedtest.net server? I see one for Vetta in Christchurch, but it would be nice to have something in Auckland.

Hey @ssamjh, funnily enough we did have an Auckland server, but it was getting shall we say, very well used! We're just awaiting some bigger NICs for the server so it has a bigger pipe to the world, then we can re-enable it again. 😊

Do you do sign-ups for customers who only have fibre to the gate?

When I put my address into your site it says it'll be available on the 30/04/2022. Fibre is definitely now available on my street.

Hey @jm3, automation is pretty good but not always right!

Fire me a message here with your address and I can check it manually for you.

Another update, for the change I need to convert my Edgerouter ER-4 from VLAN 10 to non-VLAN. I've attempted to make a config that I will test when the time comes. Here are the details.

Minus everything else, this is the config I plan to test.

I switched from Voyager last week and it's been smooth sailing so far. Was notified that I would be switched at 9am the next day. Internet went down at 8:55, changed my WAN  from vlan 10 to untagged, changed my pppoe credentials and it all connected up.

cjkbarnett:

My service is now active :) everything changed over flawlessly, and my emby media server is working a treat with the dedicated IP.

I have a SamKnows box at the address, so we will see how the speeds are over the next few days during peak times ect

Just checking in, how's it going? I'm interested in latency, especially.

Hey @ssamjh, from our side, in the interests of being completely open, we've had a couple of small outages over the last week which of course we don't like happening, but other than that should be smooth sailing.

In terms of latency, if you're interested in any destinations in particular, feel free to message me and I'm happy to run any pings/traceroutes/mtrs if you're interested. 🙂

These are my speeds and disconnections over the last week. As stated by @quic , some small hiccups earlier today, but noting unexpected or unreasonable in my books.

Yeah, mine always seems to hover around that. Was pretty similar when I was with My Republic too.

Hey Cjkbarnett

Are you able to run the download test on samknows with split data like mine shows below, just say for the last 5 days ?

Thanks

Do the PPPoE login details matter? I'm still using bigpipe for both username and password and it is working after the change over

Hey @dasimpsonsrule, while our setup guide says to use specific auth, so long as you have a PPPoE dialer facing us untagged/without a VLAN, the connection should come up fine. :-)

Welcome on board!

My connection switched over today. I'm planning on writing a comprehensive blog post comparing the two but in the meantime if anyone is interested latency wise: https://home.sjh.at/smokeping/

Switch went pretty smoothly. Overall slower speeds overseas, and some domestic locations, but nothing unusable.

What I have noticed is a slight increase in packet loss.
