Americancars: Yea, I am going to have to return my headset, it doesn't work. The radio function and the sound comes out but the button's don't work. What a pain.

I have downloaded the maps for the Usa and they are very detailed. If you want to see what voice guidance is like, go to somewhere major in America (make sure you have the maps downloaded first or are connected to 3g or WLAN), go:

1. Click on "options"
2. Scroll down and click on "plan route"
3. Select a starting point (where ever you want but I would go to a city in America (or somewhere else with good maps) first and then find a landmark or just a place anywhere).
4. Find a finishing point (you can choose one wherever you want in that land mass, near your starting point is easiest)
5. Click on "options" and then click on "show route"
6. Click "options" and go to "start simulation" and it will start a simulation of what it would be like if you were actually going on that route and it was guiding you.

Note: You DON'T have to have purchased the service for a simulation.

Also, when having a guided navigation, you may find it more fun to have the view on 3D. To do this, you push the "0" "zero" key.

Theres a little switch on it that locks the buttons, have you checked that?

Yea, I've tried everything, even holding down combinations of buttons, pushing the lock switch hard to each end, but nothing works.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

Take a look over at www.n95users.com. If they havent answered your question, just make a new thread. I just signed up over there and it seems to be the most active dedicated N95 community.

Do you know what language does the N95 from PI support?

Is it possible to have the N95 (Orig Firmware) send out notifications of movement via SMS?

Like for each x km travelled or every x mins send out a location SMS.

I got mine from Parallel Imported, and it came with a screen protector, leather pouch, a 1GB MicroSD card, battery, NZ charger as well as its original charger, CDs, manuals, and of course the N95 itself.

New firmware is out everyone.

At this early stage it appears that camera speed is improved, along with improvements to image quality (no red-tint at all now it seems), multimedia menu appears faster and phone hangs less when using WLAN. These improvements aren't confirmed yet, just some feedback from people who have updated, for some reason Nokia doesn't seem to release change-logs for their firmware upgrades.

Anyone tried it yet?

I can't as I'm on dialup due to stupid Telecom lies. . . "Yes, Broadband has been installed on your new home line as per the job sheet". . . call them when its not working "Ah, no, actually we didn't install broadband and we will have to generate a new job sheet, it'll be 5-7 days". Infuriating that even though I'm with Ihug, I still get shafted by the telco I moved from!

BTW: Doom and all the custom WADS floating around the net rock on this phone!

Now all I need is a mate with an N95, and two wireless keyboards - we can TV-out the N95's through two different AV channels, half-screen picture-on-picture the TV to the two channels, then deathmatch via bluetooth and control the game from the keyboards. . . sweet. . .

Where did you get the firmware from? Nokia online updater doesn't show any firmware for N95 yet.

I haven't got the firmware yet, but I've heard others have looked and not found it. Apparently Nokia hasn't updated the website to show the firmware, but if you go through PC suite updater it'll show up.

Hmmn, appears that perhaps the update is only for certain product numbers at the moment, however it seems that it is possible to change your product code during the update process. People are doing that to facilitate the update for as-yet unsupported product code handsets. More reports of significant increases in the speed of camera use. . .

EDIT: Ah, people are selecting N93i on the updater screen and then downloading Software Updater, which then recognises that an N95 is connected and firmware update is available. I still can't verify this as I'm on dial-up and the Updater is 23MB (Grrr Telecom).

Sweet Im glad that it has the screen protector & leather pouch. Sounds like a good deal if your after a warranty.

Just to conform it was all the av, usb cables and earphones too? Sorry for being so finicky, its a lot of money and i want to make sure I know what im getting.

Should be a good upgrade from my sad old 3205. hehe

Thanks

Thanks icejam.
Thats good enough for me as i can only read one language anywayTongue out. Does this mean there are some in nz with a beta version Firmware on them or just the language thing?
