$1350 buy-now, which is why I figure I can talk him down to $1300 (roughly what he'll make after success fees, I know because I sold an item for exactly that dollar amount a few weeks ago).

So, I met with the guy, and he is happy to sell for $1300, which is a great price really.

The phones are all in the full packaging, Asian model with the case, screen protector and 1GB microSD card (along with all the other stuff that comes with the phone). Had a look at both Plum and Sand, although I didn't think it possible, I like the Sand even less now that I've physically seen it. He is happy for me to pass on his email address to you all if you would like to buy one off him, I will be buying one tomorrow night for my Fiance.

Since you can meet him to pick up the phone theres no worries about this being any kind of scam.

Will upload some pictures from my current phone (V3x, yuk) of the unboxing tomorrow night, can't wait ;]

$60 less than you'd land it in NZ for from Expansys, including freight and GST. There is of course the issue of warranty and the fact the Expansys one is the Australian model but $60 is also $60!!!

Yes I'm fractalpaladin. Plum is definitelythe way to go.

Just an update on build quality, I have noticed my unit has developed a bit more vertical play on the right hand side from originally. this does not appear to be getting any worse. it does mean when you press the manua buttons on the right hand side that the slider depresses approx 1/2mm however. This is a lot less play then my n80 had however.

Any other problems or annoyances Fraktul, or is the N95 going along perfectly?

What are the NZ maps like? I heard that there are no street names as yet (until updates)? Is this true, or is it only POI's that are lacking?

How is battery life for you? I'm happy with charging everyday, so I'm not really fussed, but it means I could potentially cancel the spare battery on my Expansys order.

I am a bit confused what memory card comes with it ? 128 or 1gb ?

Depends on the country it comes from, Singapore (and I think the rest of asia also) are sent with 1GB cards, but I believe the English ones have only a 128MB card. In addition the English ones lack the screen protector and leather case.

Doesn't matter, build quality is equivalent for both. If you trawl around the net you'll see this confirmed in a number of places from actual N95 users who have had multiple handsets from different locations (lots of people with branded ones have returned them several times, and/or purchased them un-branded when they couldn't get a good branded one or needed VOiP).

Well, first off I must apologise to everyone who was waiting for Expansys feedback, I'm getting two N95's from the guy I mentioned this evening (one for my Fiance's birthday, you know its love eh?). Expansys just told me that their stock is not arriving until Friday sometime, which means I wouldn't have it until Monday or Tuesday, which isn't really OK since I'd have to watch my Fiance use it all weekend and wouldn't have it on hand to make some recordings at the Chilis this weekend. I will still be getting microSD cards and spare batteries and so forth from them though, so all is not lost on the feedback front.

Secondly, yay me! LaughingLaughingLaughing

just downloaded NZ maps from Maploader (about 5mb) but there is no street name and the streets is not complete (street missing) any ideas any one?
is it just me or its the same for everybody?

I've heard that, I guess thats how it will be until the maps are updated. Question, can you edit the maps to show points of interest (POI)? I'd really like to be able to add all the WiFi hotspots I find to mine.
