If you are changing your phone to Tonga timezone (which has no daylight saving period) be aware of a potential issue with appointments you create if you are syncing with another system that understands the real daylight saving time period in NZ (eg Windows) ...

When you enter an appointment on your phone you are entering it as GMT+13. If the appointment is at a time beyond the official end of daylight saving, it will be out by an hour again in the other system because the other system will be aware of the daylight saving change offset in that period. The same applies in reverse. It probably impacts recurring appointments too.

Trying to sync calendars between two systems with one aware of daylight saving offset and the other not is a bit dodgy. Hopefully a patch for updating the start/end of NZDST on the phone will be forthcoming soon but I'm not holding my breath ...

I'd have to disagree that "People fail to understand..."

Its the manufacturers that can't be bothered. 'People' are just trying to find some way around this problem the best they can.  Without a proper fix there is always going to be problems.

I actually thought of editing my previous post, but the meaning was "people" as in the "manufacturers' people who want to close support requests as quick as they can without having to actually work".
