Depends on what access point you're using - if you're on a WLAN then there are no charges. If you are using VF Internet then yes. They're pretty minimal though, A-GPS uses only a few kilobytes each time. Google Maps on the other hand can easily rack up 1MB ($10) if you're not being careful.

I've just got Garmin XT and I have to say it seems brilliant after only a few minutes use, the free NZ Open GPS maps are excellent. According to some forumers at Howard Forums there is a way to get it free on your phone, so if piracy doesn't bother you then try it out.

Indeed, I'm now waiting for black, although by the time it arrives Nokia may have announced another even more desirable handset...since we're still awaiting the followup to the N95 (I hope its not the N96 that has been floating around the net)...

I love my N95 and if I was to change phones, I would currently go for the N82 over the likes of the new N95 8GB.  Why?  Lens cover.  I think Nokia is giving up on the idea of a lens cover on their new phones.  Let's hope not!

The lens cover mechanism on the N82 is really, really well implemented too.

Its difficult to say whether Nokia are going to keep producing handsets without lens covers, I had thought on the basis of the N82 that they had cottoned on to the fact that its what consumers want, but the leaked N96 shots suggest otherwise. Its a question of whether there is an overall policy for the N-Series regarding this, or whether it comes down to the individual device design teams. On the basis of the conversations I had with the Project Managers for the N82, E90 and accessories gear people at Nokiaworld there seems to be quite a range of understanding - the N82 Project Manager by far had the best understanding of what the market actually wants.
