"Well, if this report at boygeniusreport is accurate it looks like I may be crossing off at least one of the most-hoped-for items from my wishlist in 2008! The report also states the device will have "DVD-Quality" video recording, and other features that..."

yuck! I didn't like E61, and certainly doesn't like the phatness of this qwerty. it's just too wide and too phat looking!

OT: When you were at NokiaWorld2007, why is there stormtropper and darth vader? What's their presense for?

I don't think its too wide, the iPhone is very nice when held in your palm, and this won't be wider than that in the closed position. I don't know that it will be that fat in practise to be honest, but it'll certainly take a hit in the thickness stakes. The Helio Ocean is 23mm thick for example, a couple of mm more than the N95 8GB, which is itself generally regarded as a chunky phone these days. Personally I'd be perfectly happy up to about 25mm I would think, the benefits of the form-factor in terms of UI would outweigh the detriment to pocket-ability.

The Stormtrooper and Darth Vader were there to promote the N-Gage version of "The Force Unleashed" (which looks quite nice incidentally).

Hmmn, I must need more sleep, having completely misread your post Chiefie!

EDIT: Yes, I agree totally, E61 is appallingly ugly. The comments I made in response to your were in fact discussing the triple-slide design, which I somehow thought you were referring too (even though you explicitly mention the E61? remember kids, less than 10 hours sleep in four days is bad!). Updated the blog post slightly to make that point.
