I also just tested the FM Transmaitter today...that a cool feature...great for listening to your music in your car.

Simply, it turns the N97 into a radio station, with your own chosen broadcast frequency...

When enabled, you just tune your car stereo into your chosen frequency, and any music playing on your N97 will come through on your car stereo, nice and loud.

Very cool, actually practical and useable.

Good find on the free games! Have you tried any?

Yes, I had a great time with the FM Transmitter while I was away in Aussie. I was surprised by the clarity of sound.

Quick Office has also been updated to version 6 - now able to play PowerPoint 2007 presentations, as well as other improvements / upgrades.

Free for the "view only" version.

Have not tried any of the games yet...I currently have Connect4. Tick Tak Toe and Worms World Party (N-gage)

Yup, I already knew about Quick Office, I have also linked to it in the first post for others.

You, or anyone else found any goodies I should list here?

I just posted a blog about what I think the N97 is missing or needs fixed...tell me what you think, have I left anything major out?

Creaky-sounding back cover!  Have you noticed when you put your fingers against the back cover as you type on the keyboard?  Very annoying... doh.  Hope there is a solution to it.  I have read on the net that others are experiencing the same noise.

I have, and I have read a few solutions offered in places, although they not the best...

1) Cut a business card in half and put that in between the battery and the cover (perfect fit)...
I would not do it myself as I would be concerned of the heat of the battery against the card.

2) The plastic clips that secure the back cover, bend them just a little and it tightens the grip of the cover to the device removing the creaking sound...
Once again, I would be too scared to do that for fear of breaking the flimsy plastic.

Hi, I have been reading through much of the info in this thread but i havn't found the answer to my questions.

I bought an N97 when I was in America, it works fine here in NZ on 2d, VF or XT. Im running it on VF atm.

I cant install many .sis files as the phone says something along the lines of "Certificate error, might not be active, might have expired" and then just fails to install.

I have tried changing the date of the phone and repeating the process but it doesnt change.

Secondly, I dl the Ovi Maps for NZ, it was only a 12.4Mb file, the maps work fine, and when I get a gps signal, it accurately shows my position. The issue I have is when I search for an address, then select "Drive to", I get a pop up saying content allow blah blah, thats all good, then I have to check if there are any free licences for my region, ofcourse the message comes back and says no.

Then i get the option to purchase a licence for voice guidance. If i select purchase im sure it would be fine, but 30 days for $17 doenst seem reasonable.

So, I select the cancel option. Then the whole process that i have been through is canceled, it does back to simply displaying my position as if i havn't told it to drive anywhere.

Anyone else had this issue, or know how to stop this happeneing???

Thanks

Because you bought the handset off shore the included Drive/Walk licences are for the country you purchased the handset from.

If you upgrade to Maps 3.0 the cost should be slightly cheaper.

Without paying for the Drive and/or Walk solution you will not get Voice Guided Navigation.

Any word on VoIP client for these phones?

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, data cabling and general computer support for home and small business.
Rural Broadband RBI installer for Ultimate Broadband and Full Flavour

Im not really interested in voice guided nav, i just want it to show me where to turn. I thought that option was free, but according to my fone it cannot be accessed.
