TheBartender:
I have not hard reset yet, but its now looking likely, due to a major problem with my music libary...
The N97 does not like having file moved onto, and deleted, when in mass media drive mode...
Obviously, it only likes files moved onto and off it using the Ovi Suite, which I have not properly used yet.

Do you not use windows media player to sync your music? I do and it works perfectly. I think copying music by way of using mass media drive and windows explorer would not be the best surely?

Either I still have alot to learn...or this S60 OS is an a@#*
I played with a few iPhone 3GS tonight....and also MF's WinMo mobile...and they were fast, really responsive, easy to use....

So with your experience in hand, which phone would you buy now if you had to choose?

---------

Wow long clip too.. how big was that? Was it set to best resolution?

I trash my phone in terms of using it hard, and it used to crash lots. But now since the upgrades, i get minimal crashes, so i have been quite happy. From my experince though, i now realise that the symbian s60 OS is crap. I have owned a few s60 phones, all could have been 20x faster in the UI, and the N97 is no different.

The only reason i would buy this phone now is for the looks and keyboard.

My N82 has a stronger gps link, my N97 keeps dropping out when in my lounge, while my N82 consistantly works well. Also using ovi maps 3.0, the N97 was about 50m behind when giving driving directions, N82 works perfectly.
Camera sucks on N97, awesome on N82.
Both UI's are the same speed, so i am use to it. There is a program which i installed on my N82 which speeds up the graphics and seem to have worked a little. Have yet to try it on the N97.

I have used any programs to sync...I have simply been transfering files via Window Explorer, just as if it is a portable hard drive.

Obviously as I have now learn, it does not like this...
I worked fine at the start, just took a while...but the problem has arisen now as I deleted the whole libary while using Windows Explorer...and it appears the Nokia N97 did not like that.

So with your experience in hand, which phone would you buy now if you had to choose?

I would probely still buy the N97...

I really wanted a Nokia so to be able to use programs such as Sports Tracker...
That, and the N97 is a good looking device, love the Home Screen.

I also simply refuse to buy an iPhone...simply because I do not like he walled garden approach
That, and I am not a sheep, I will not buy something just because its the 'in thing'
At th iPhone still has many many shortcomings.

I hink it was...I did not look at the settings when I took that, but I had previously set it to the best quality during a previous test.

I think i was about 50MB...will check later

Having installed all the updates, the phone is crashing far less, alot more stable...but still needs work.

Ah...did not see your flag as I read your last post using the mobile version of Geekzone via the N97...

I wonder if I should investigate changing my N97's serial code so its that of a Europe model, as I read some countrys get updates first...

Yes they do get the updates by country. If you do change the serial number and then you have an issue with the phone where by it has to go to Nokia, remember to change the serial back to the original one otherwise Nokia will not fix your phone. I got the programme you change it with on my Laptop somewhere cos i changed my old N95 8GB serial.

Ok...I now have N-Gage!
WaHooo!

I did it the hard way though....found the installation files and installed it manually.

I am now downloading and installing Worms World Party.

How did I come by the installation file?
Its a dag...
Google does not find yet...
But I just joined up to some N97 groups on Facebook...and there is a wealth of information there...choice!
