The price of a N82 is becoming very attractive at a bit more than $500 or so dollars, but I'm left wondering what difference is there between silver and black?!

Silver for $529: http://www.einfo.co.nz/shop/product_info.php?products_id=5700
Black for $542: http://www.einfo.co.nz/shop/product_info.php?products_id=8370

So far as I can tell there is no difference in specs, but I can't help but wonder if I am missing something?

Also I'd like to know is there any way to get a rough idea when Nokia will stop making the N82, as I would like to get it but also I'm tempted to keep on waiting for the prices to come down...  so I don't want to wait too long until it has disappeared!

I'm sorry i'm not too much help to you, but i've owned an N82 for what i think must be over a year now (bought it not long after being available to the import stores) and have had no complaints with it except for a slight delay in getting used to the keypad.

As i understand it, the newer black ones (they came out after i'd already bought mine in silver) had a much better keypad, and as such would probably be a bit nicer to use. If you can have a play with both in a store then you should be able to have this fact proven to you.

I wouldn't say the keypad is "much better", but they improved the tactile feedback a bit (I own the black one, and have used silver ones a lot). The left and right softkeys are improved, as is the D-Pad, and these are far more important than the small difference in the keypad quality.

Otherwise the black one is infinitely better looking, and the keypad lights show up better.

Nothing else different apart from those things.

I'd spend $13 just for the difference in looks alone...

But overall I would say its worth it, it makes a small but distinguishable difference to the quality of your user-experience every day you use the device. Cumulatively I think its worth $13...

dman: so the $13 dollar difference is totally worth it?
I wish i waited and bought the black version for its looks alone. I've been waiting patiently for the silver chassis i have now to get worn out so much that i can justify a purchase of a replacement black one and swap the guts over.
