I updated by going to the Nokia Europe website and simply entering my country and cellphone number in the box at the top of the page (there's a page dedicated to the free navigation).

Sent me a nice link by SMS and i downloaded it and hey presto.

I have a 5800 - works like a dream.

New Firmware, new free navigation and maps...I couldn;t be happier.

Here is hopng the will find a way to install it onto the Mass Memory or the memory card in the N86 that would defently make a difference.
It is suprising it is a space issue my phone only has 34mb available in the Device memory.

I know the N95 use to ask if you wanted to install apps onto the memorycard or the phone memory but they might not of been nokia apps.
Hopefully they get this issue resolved.

Fair enough, the app isn't brilliant but it still exists, and works relatively well (although it doesn't compare to my actual gps unit).

I was running the hacked beta version 3.03 on my N97 classic
I was too impatient to wait till next week for the firmware upgrade
I deleted the license manager and Nokia maps from My N97 and had 48mb of Memory
I followed this tutorial http://techie-buzz.com/mobile-news/run-free-ovi-maps-on-nokia-n97.html
D/Led the n97 mini version
Now have 34.6mb of memory so it only used 15mb
I did not have to delete the "cities" folder...perhaps because I was already using maps 3.03 as the beta?
Definatly a slicker interface, If you want to use the built in compass, you press on the icon to start the function, A quick flick or two......not mad shaking around like I used to :-) so definatly a big improvement If you want to deacticate the compass you press the icon again

The lonely planet guide works for Auckland......I'm not lonely any more

Once again the lag is present when navigating.  See my other posts about improving the GPS Signal
It will be interesting to see if the offical realease next week  for N97 Classic along with the much promised firmware upgrade will improve the lag....but Im not holding my breath.....but...thay did improve the compass!!

How offensive. The E75 (which most assuredly is not short on disk space!) is not supported. The web page says to install Maps 3.0, but the Maps Updater yells at me that Maps 2.0 is the latest version.

This after the infernal "Internal Error" trying to update the firmware for the last 3 months (only got it to work by doing OTA update!)

Yeah, Nokia's not in my good books right now.

I finally have fibre!  Had to leave the country to get it though.

What map updater are you using? if you're using Nokia Maps 2.0 is the latest. The product was replaced by Ovi Maps which you need to download from the website and install - you can't upgrade as such.

There are more handsets coming online in the coming weeks. Be patient, you haven't been forgotten about.

Go have a look at the Nokia Europe website - full list of handsets supported is there. And you can have the link sent directly to your handset from there too.

That's really rather funny...a navigator that is unable to navigate. Forgive my humour at the expense of your sad irony.

I know, it's so annoying, especially since on twitter @ovibynokia they tweet everyday, "Get free nav". "Get free worldwide nav unlike some others" etc.  And it's like ONLY ON 10 DAMN phones!!
