Hi all,

Bought a second hand N97 this afternoon, phone appears to be in good nick, it is the full 32Gb version.

Firstly I'm aware that the phone can have a lot of software glitches that has drawn lots of criticism, so I'm wondering if what I'm describing is a glitch.

I used it for about 45 minutes before the battery ran low, so I started charging the battery.

The problem is that during charging, the phone would randomly turn itself off. But it doesn't fully turn off, it just turns to that screen where only the NOKIA logo is there and the battery bar going up. If I press the power button, the phone turns back on, but after a while it would automatically again go back to the mode I've described, where you only see the NOKIA logo and the battery bar.

Is this a problem? Or just a software glitch? If it's a problem then I might ask for my money back.

I can't say if the phone turns itself off during normal use yet, as I haven't used it enough to tell.

Thanks for any advice.

Hmmm something is definitely not right.

I charged it for two hours and unplugged the charger. Turn phone back on (it was never suppose to turn off) and the battery STILL showed 1 bar and it said "Low Battery".

Then the phone turned back off again, this time I'm unable to turn it back on.

I plugged in the charger again and it turned on, haven't turn itself off yet but it's only been 10 minutes.

Definitely something is dodgy with the battery.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Maybe it's the charger's problem? I used a OEM charger I normally use for my N96, it's rated at 400mA.

I just read that chargers normally supplied with the N97 are rated at 800mA.

Last night I somehow (don't really know how) managed to get it charging without it turning off by itself, however I left it all night and this morning it was still charging, i.e. the battery bars were still going up. I unplugged it and the bars were full. However by 5pm it was back down to 2 bars.

Does it still sound like it's the charger?

I got it plugged into the USB charger at the moment, connected to the PC, and it says charging, I will leave it for a few hours and see what happens.
