Symbian Anna was announced back in April with the X7 and has just been released as an upgrade for existing Symbian 3 devices(N8 E7 etc) with Belle close on it's heels with three new devices (600, 700, 701) announced running the new version of Symbian.  I wonder how long before the Belle upgrade hits the streets for existing devices.

Early reports on Belle are very favourable.  If some reports can be believed there is more development to come.  One cannot but wonder how much more development they will do and how the user experience will compare with iOS and Android.  Probably the only pity is that Nokia didn't get these updates to market a year or so sooner.

We keep reading from various sources that Symbian is a dying outdated OS. Hats off to Nokia for bringing out these upgrades, and providing on going support.  Perhaps Symbian isn't quite so outdated or ready to lay down and die just yet.

Screenshots look good, although some have said it looks a lot like Android.

I notice the new numbering system... 600, 650, 700.
Is there going to be a Nokia 800 to replace the Nokia N8?

Of course that should have been 600, 700 and 701.

There is a video on showing the 700, but when they show the capabilities of the 700, it's playing a video showing another phone - a possible N8-01 or 801 with edge-to-edge curved screen (as seen in the N9).

I posted on the Anna Forum, but wholeheartedly agree with comment on this thread.. Anna has taken Nokia to a whole new level (as my 6110 was to other phones last century as I recall). I hope to see Belle released for my N8, and hope for some decent marketing by Nokia and we remaining fans. All my colleagues are iPhone 4 equipped and there is is pressure on me to conform, I push back big time. Perhaps Nokia should pay a few geeks to write some killer apps.. there would be hope yet.
