Have just purchased a Nokia N9 through the Vodafone online offer, of a discount for a hundred bucks on the handset .. so paid $899 as I have a prepaid card.

Checked out the handset at the Vodafone store at Albany mall, Highbury which is closer to where I stay, hasn't been given a set as yet that I found strange, especially since Vodafone have advertised the launch of the N9. Amazed that the salesperson at the Albany store didn't even know of the online offer, or too keen to market their new product. Anyhow, had a fiddle and decided to purchase a set online as the hundred dollar discount still applied when I looked again.

Looking forward to my first smartphone as a Linux user, and hopefully the Meego OS works out well.

I'm surprised they haven't sold more than 50 yet considering the $100 discount was only for the first 50 online orders.

Seriously thinking of one too, problem is I'll need to put it on Telecom.  Is there any Vodafone branding on the phone?

As for how well Meego works?  From what I've read it works very very very well, to the point questions have been asked as to why Nokia even bothered with the deal with Microsoft.  Meego has been released to the market well ahead of any Nokia WP7 phones and with some good reviews.  The GSM Arena review was very impressed with Meego as a brand new OS, they weren't so fussed on the lack of apps or the possible lack of follow up Meego handsets.

I've been told at a store that the phone is unlocked, and believe that the frequencies should work on XT. Can't guarantee that!

Amazing, the $899 offer is still going online. Yes, I did read the GSM Arena review and it was a good one.

Now for the courier pack to arrive, with a micro simcard to which I have to transfer my existing prepay account at a store near me.

Nokia N9 is a pentaband phone meaning it will work on all 3 NZ mobile networks and the NZ supplied Vodafone version of the phone is unlocked.

I know it is unlocked and will work in the XT network.  Just interested in finding out what if any branding comes on the phone.

Thanks for the info Brent.

A couple of other questions, does it come with a QR code reader or is there one that can be downloaded?  Also I understand it comes with a document viewer, is there a version of Quick Office or similar that allows document creation/editing?

Any idea of if or when?  My wife's pretty keen on the N9 but the QR reader is a must have and the document editor a nice to have.

What's the cheapest you've found it for? I'm thinking about buying it at Dick smith in aus for 814ish NZD and having it sent here.. Or perhaps just waiting till hopefully it goes on sale somewhere. Not saying 899 isn't a greap offer, I'm just a student looking for the best for less.
