The APN for 2degrees is "internet" - this is probably set to www.vodafone.nz.net on your VF handset.

http://2degreesmobile.co.nz/settings

That page has the settings and you can send the settings to some phones.

Data is EXPENSIVE. If data is important then do not move to 2 Degrees until they have introduced data plans. Their initial focus is on voice. It is such a shame the data is so expensive.

is it a vodafone NZ bought fone? if not it may be locked.
try going to

-> Applications
-> Options
-> Advanced options
-> Sim card

and while you have a sim in check if it says 'security enabled'
if it does it means its locked, not sure how to unlock it but u might be able to try one of these?!?!?

On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card. At that screen type MEPD on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.Look for Network in the list. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been there and it says 'Security disabled' so I think the phone is not locked. More ideas???

I've tried putting my old BB8800 on and I cant get data either.

I've tried putting internet into the APN under the TCP settings but that didnt work. I also tried putting in 118.148.1.118 which is the WAP setting, and that didnt work either.

I finally got the browser to launch by stealth (as its not showing in the applications list by default).

I then got an error message: Your device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book Entries. Please contact your service provider to enable the Browser on your device.

I havent contacted 2degrees yet about this, suspect answer might be something like they dont support blackberry yet or something like that... anyone got any ideas?

hmmm...

Mabye your network selection is on manaul?
try this

->Apps
->Manage Connections
->Mobile Network Options
->and click "Scan for avaliable networks"

it should come up with vodafone and 2degrees (or NZCOMMS or 530-24)

after that change your selection mode to auto

I can connect to 2degrees no problemo. Problem is I cant get data (just voice & sms).

Seems the problem may be that the blackberry requires a BIS connection at the network provider to route the data through. I might be able to get Opera Mini working as a browser but it was google maps I really wanted and that relies on the BIS connection it seems :(

as for this, I believe so, edge is not in capitals EDGE, and I think RIM blocks anything that is not on account, when I was on account there are work around to use the blackberry without BIS.

I have the same problem with my Blackberry 8100.  I bought it unlocked from overseas.  It works fine on the Internet with my Vodafone SIM installed.
When I put the 2 Degrees SIM in all is good except for Internet - same error messages about browser as above...when I look in to the SIM settings it says Security Disabled.

With the Vodafone SIM in it doesn't matter what is written in the APN - it still has "internet" for 2degrees yet works fine on Vodafone.

Do you think it has been unlocked in a way that overrides all user customisable settings, and this allows it to only work on Vodafone?  Wonder if the same is possible for 2Degrees?

Thanks!
