Seems pretty quiet here lately.

My latest acquisition is the iDSD Micro Dac/Amp.

I am also having another go at finishing the speedball upgrade for my crack amp.

I also replaced my Black Box M10 Noise Cancelling Headphones for the Limited Edition Triple Black QC25 Bose.

Still loving my Final Audio Sonorous VI which was the last purchase I made other than the slightly disappointing Centrace DacPort revision...I have gone back to using my original one due to the small, but noticeable and persistant noise-floor/hiss on the new one.

I've never heard of those Final Audio HP's but they look amazing!

Fortunately they sound as good as they look IMHO!

It was a recommendation on this very thread that led me to them in the first place and a Massdrop deal that secured it.

Surprisingly easy to drive too - even my iPhone manages them just fine. Only real negative is that they require a bit of fiddling to get the comfort just so and unfortunately the most comfortable version of the pads don't sound quite as good as the other ones. There is a 3rd type which apparently blends the best of both which I want to get my hands on

The reviews make me very keen to try a pair :) If you ever take a holiday and don't take them with you, I'd be happy to keep them warm for you.

I am seriously drooling over a pair of HD800S right now, I think they may have fixed the issue I think I had with the the HD800 which is I found them a tiny bit Sibilent (Silience? sp?)

With a Pair of HD650's and a pair of RS170's (Which are actually exceptionally good for wireless headphones) something else might be interesting.

My T1's still get the bulk of my head time for music.

I should bring them to the next headphone meet! No holidays planned at the moment sadly...

T1's were also on my list and I came very close to buying them. Not really had much experience with the Sennheisers having been put off many years ago by a portable pair I bought for my Sony Diskman (!) that I really didn't get on with...

The HD800S' do sound really great.  Slightly more bass response and the lower sibilance (checked the spelling because, damn) sounds great to me too. Should result in a less fatiguing listening experience!

If you get your hands on some I look forward to your thoughts.

Yeah. I keep thinking someone needs to do a dedicated headphone shop on Queen Street. A place with a really good selection of a broad range of headphones, DACs, etc. Then for customers that are well known etc a 'home-testing' programme could be done.

Computer Lounge actually had a pretty good deal a few months back, I got 20% off a pair of HD800S, which is massive considering its normal price.

I think at 20% off I'd probably be pretty keen! Or to borrow yours if you weren't using them ;) LOL

Yeah I saw that one too and thought the same. Didn't have the funds for it them though sadly.  Might just have to wait for the next one.  How do you like the 800S'?

Initially I thought the HD800S sounded too similar to the HD650, but after about a week, I started to appreciate the additional details. Now I keep the HD800S at work (5 days a week) and the HD650 for the weekend, I have to say I do miss the HD800S during the weekend :p.

If you haven't read this, I would highly recommend you do. The important take away is that while the HD800S is an improvement over the HD800 by filtering out the 6KHz spike and improved bass, the amplified second harmonic in the bass response, while perceived stronger, actually introduces distortion. If you like minimal hassle and great sound, go for the HD800S, but if you are after pefection, you can apply the mod described in that review and a bit of EQ.

Personally, I don't know what the bass sounds like on the HD800 vs HD800S, so I can't really comment on the distortion. But, I am still very much impressed with the HD800S.

Problem is home testing followed by purchasing online from another place followed by a very expensive pair of headphones being worthless. That would have to be built into the margins and then the price is even more expensive!
