Hey Folks.

In a bit of conundrum. The 6 year old Sharp 46" has developed a syndrome which is getting worse by the week. Each few days a new horizontal black line appears on the LCD in the lower portion of the display. This is a hardware fault and runs right along the bottom of the screen. Anyone have any idea whether it looks fixable or not? See the pic below

If it is isn't would anyone recommend the Samsung UA46ES5500 or Sony KDL46EX650.

Both the same price. On sale today. Both have similar specs. Mainly used for PC / Xbox and movies. Not interested in 3d.

Thanks for the help!

Matt.

Get the Sammy if they are the same price. More real estate = win

Oops. Posted the wrong product code. Have corrected. Sony is a 46" as well... So, Sammy over Sony in the same size?

not sure if its still the case but my screen started doing something similar and to fix it they had to replace the 46" screen , at a cost of $5000.00 even though i only paid $2200.00 for the whole TV, suffice to say they replaced the whole tv under warranty.

Thanks. Bit the bullet and bought the Samsung. The Sharp will go on Trademe for $1.... closely followed perhaps by a trip to the e-waste!

I went from a Samsung 40" LED to the Sony KDL46EX650.

IMO, the Sony is a better TV than the Samsung. The Sony just seems to have a slightly nicer picture.
