Going to pick up a Pioneer VSX922 and need some speakers to go along with it. Don't really want to spend more then a grand. What say you knowledgeable Geekzoners?

I have a sweet set of two Polk Audio bookshelf speakers and a Polk Audio sub that I am soon to list on TM. Let me know if you are after something like that and we can discuss further.

Also have gloss white Dynaudio stands which are only a couple of months old.

Reason for sale: purchased a pair of Dynaudio floorstanders so the Polks are surplus to requirements.

JB HiFi have 25% off their speakers at the moment.

I bought the KeQf 900 for home.  They would be a bit out of your price range but you could get the little brother and still have change out of $1000.

I was going to reply to this thread earlier, but really, there's simply not enough information re: your needs.
Recommending speakers to someone without knowing all the variables is a bit of a fools errand.

How big is your room?
Do you want floor standers? Stand mounts? Satellites?
How many speakers do you want (2 / 3 / 5 / 7? A sub?)
Are you music or movie focused?
What sort of sound are you after? Warm or detailed?
With your receiver (somewhat on the brighter side of neutral) you'll need to be careful with partnering it with speakers.

So yeah, it's not really just a case of recommending a 'one size fits all' solution.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. A bit more detail

Would like a couple of floor standing speakers to use on either side of the TV for music and then a  centre, sub and rears for movies etc. Medium sized room with the couch in front of the TV.

Well for $1000 you're going to be limited for a full set of 5.1 including floorstanders for the front.

Try this set from JB HiFi.

Can't see you getting the Wharfedale Diamond 9 or 10 for anywhere near that price (new anyway).  Maybe second hand is the way to go.

I can definitely reccomend the Wharfedale Diamonds. I have the 9 series and very happy with them.

Quite a few months ago Harvey Norman were selling the 5.1 10's for $1400, so they might have come down since then.

I got mine from Bond & Bond / Noel Leeming. Might be worth asking in store if they have any any at other stores or from their supplier.

And remember to haggle! The price they quote has a massive mark up.

Good Luck!
