philk: Just rang place where I brought it from, they told me I purchased on 11/4/2011 so it's a little older than I thought.
They said you can ring Panasonic about consumer guarantees act on it but didn't offer anything else

They're BS you. Typical reaction if they think you know nothing about the CGA.
Read up on the CGA online.
The Retailer is responsible gettiing it repaired or replaced, not you. How they do it is they're problem but they are required (as the vendor)  to comply with the CGA.
It's only just over 2 yrs old so definitely worth pursuing through the retailer as it should last around 10yrs+.
Go and talk to the retailer and demand repair/replacement action as per the CGA.

Cool thanks for that, I'll try again, it's always a struggle when you don't know what your entitled too.
I don't like the way they don't want to help at all when you ring with a problem

You are being fobbed off by the retailer, but be aware, the 'should last around 10yrs+' line isn't quite on the money. It depends on usage, price paid etc. So a bottom of the line plasma (which the X20 is) used every day of the week would not be a decade TV. However, if the store was prepared to offer a +4 year warranty on the TV at the users cost, it would be easy to argue that they have the belief that it would last that long... if you follow my thoughts.
