Models would help. Simplest way is L and R analogue out on TV to L and R in on stereo. 20m is probably stretching it, depending on quality, for an analogue cable.
Your analogue-digital question needs clarifying.

20m should be ok to get sound (depends on the quality of cable you use). assuming your planning to use the analouge out of the tv to the ananlouge in of the stereo?

If you want to use the optical out of the tv you can with a digital to analouge converter but whats the point of spending money on that when you can just use the analouge out from the TV.

Over 20m you might find yourself watching a lot of lips moving and the sound later.
Bring the stereo to the tv and test it out to see if you like the sound.

20m is quite a distance, guessing this is for a commercial premises?

20m of audio cable should be fine.
I used to run about that length of cable (very thin too) for audio and video when I first installed a DVD drive in my PC so we could watch DVDs on the TV. Never had a problem.

Yep, you shouldn't get syncing issues, it will just be a little quieter, volume control fixes that though.

Unsure why you need analogue to digital conversion? Unless your TV has not got analogue outputs?
