Hi, Wanting to look at some old VHS tapes, but heads dirty and the fluid in tape cleaning cassette long dried up!

Any idea what it was to buy more, or some alternative - isopropyl alcohol ??

Thanks.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Yes, I use it too - for audio tape heads. But this stuff drips onto a paper-like tape in the cassette and it may be significantly different. But no harm to try and see, I guess ? :)

+ 1. Bought some recently from a chemist at about $20-something for a 50 ml bottle. Then saw a litre of it for $19.99 at Mega Mitre 10. Cheaper n' gin!

On reflection I'm pretty sure it was $9.99 at MM10.

I'm wanting to clean the print head on a printer and went looking for some isopropyl alcohol.  I used to buy it from the chemist for something like $15 for a little bottle, but after reading this thread I thought I'd try elsewhere first.  I tried both Bunnings and Mitre 10 Mega on Wairau Rd on Auckland's North Shore but both told me they don't sell it and I couldn't find it on either of their websites.  In both cases I asked at the paint counter because I thought that would be the place to get it.

Which Mitre 10 did you purchase it from and when?

The Mitre 10 guy suggested I buy a little bottle from Jaycar, which might be cheaper than a chemist.

I still have a good portion left of my 20L container of this stuff I bought years ago for $120 :)

I tried Mitre 10 and Bunnings too last week.
They no longer sell it because of the prevalance of P labs.
Plenty available on Trademe though.
Around $70 for a 20ltr drum. 1 Ltr bottles around $23.
Apparently corner dairies in South Auckland are likely places too.
