As promised, the Freeview reg file to get Nova 2 working with Vista MC:

Ensure you use the enable_mce reg file and reboot before using this reg file.

I will be rebuilding my MCE 2005 PC with dual Nova S cards, does anyone have dual Nova S cards working with freeview and MCE?

cheers in advance

kirjava: I know you mentioned that you wish to avoid alternatives to MCE if possible, but you may want to take a look at mediaportal. From what I can tell, it works very similar from a user point of view, and it supports DVB-S natively, along with an MCE remote...

I've got the Pinnacle PCTV Dual Sat Pro PCI and can't see the card in MediaPortal. If anyone has managed to do this, please let me know! If I do it first, I'll return the favour.

Cheers

I wonder if rotating your current LNB through 90 deg will switch the polarity?

Now I might be talking utter crap here, perhaps someone else can shoot me down if this is so :)

Anybody with thoughts on this? I also can only get 1 & 2 to view, although my card knows about 3, 4 and all the Sky channels.

How can I tell if an old unused dish on my roof has the correct LNB required for Freeview?

Cheers
Jon

As mentioned above this reg file has all 5 freeview channels working for me, including the two national radio channels as well.

When using this information by cutting and pasting ensure there are no spaces between words that should not be there. I had this problem when cutting from other peoples reg files.

Note: This reg file is for a Nova S and MCE. I could try emailing this reg file to those who want to give it a crack. I know others have mentioned this file has not worked for them, i am not sure why but it may be using the cutting and pasting. I would suggest making a file using the Hauppauge reg file maker that can be downloaded from the German website. Use the inputs below when making the file.

Could do with some help on this one.

I had a PVR150 running on Vista Media Centre with FTA analog and all was fine.

I took the 150 out and put a Nova in. Ran Wintv2000 and scanned the satelitte and got all the channels running fine in that programme so signal is fine and PC has right drivers etc for card.

Ran the enable_MCE reg which disabled the WinTV2000 application  and then rebooted and ran the reg file in this thread. Started Vista MC configured TV which seemed to go fine ( trying this prior to enable_MCE reg it said couldn't see compatible tuner). Ran update services and its says it didn't find any services. Checked all that pretty carefully so must be doing something wrong?

I'm thinking it must be the reg in this thread thats not working. Can some-one email me their reg file or offer any suggestions.

Thanks

Warwick

And the answer is chose Australia as the region when setting up the signal in VMC - obvious not! Found on UK Hauppague forum.

Well I have a new and more confusing problem now.

On Sunday, our sky decoder stopped working at home, however my HTPC will still working and able to pick-up a satellite signal, and TV.

Monday we had a Sky technician come out to the house, and replace the LNB on the dish.  I was not home, but he told my wife we would have to re-tune the Freeview decoder??  Didn't know why he would say that, except for the fact I can't get anything on my HTPC now.

I have tried the two reg files listed here, as well as Hauppauge's Win TV application.  Nothing..... it's all very odd!  Anyone got any ideas?

Hi the sky man prob put a new LNB on your dish, try using 10750 instead of 11300 in WinTV and in the reg file.

I heard new sky LNB's have a different freq.

Oh, has anyone heard anything new from Sky as to when they will be changing the polarity of their broadcasts?

I think its safe to say anytime in the next 6-8weeks. They are changing, the lattest firmware update has only one of the eight or more root channels on Vpol the rest are Hpol. Along with having the headend waveguides sorted I guess the next delay is getting all the MDU installs lined up for the change over.

Be assured it will happen in the 2month timeframe.

Cyril
