I have recently had My Sky installed. Listings on the Planner for series-linked programmes did not appear. I did a soft reboot and they appeared.

Am I going to have to do a soft reboot every time or was this a one-off glitch?

Before registering, I read some threads dating back to early 2006 and the series-link problem does not seem to have been fixed.

As directed by the manual, I did not delete a series-linked listing when I'd finished watching the programme.

About half of our series links disappeared suddenly about 2 weeks ago and I had to recreate them.  It has been OK since that time, but I would have to say that Series Links are about the most unreliable part of MySky.  A couple of months back, I was trying to record Top Gear off the BBC and had that programme selected from the Guide to record every week.

But I kept getting other programmes that were totally unrelated to Top Gear.  It wasn't even the same programme each time, just something else completely random.  It appeared to me that the Guide info was wrong for that time slot.

Having said that, I can now record CLICK (the BBC's IT programme) every week with a Series Link.  This wasn't available last year (I had to record each show singly when I remembered).

So, it's a case of 2 steps forward, one step backward I think...

Hi,

2 weeks ago I found none of my links were picking up the next weeks show and this happened the day after an update, I have been told the the MySky boxes do have problems updating software, I was give a new box and the same thing was happening, so I was told to go into the setup sub menu, and do a full reset, which clears the memory and reloaded all shows again, I have not had a problem since.

I aim to misbehave.

Thanks, Grant 17. I'll keep on monitoring the problem. I just hope it will go away.

Thanks, DS9. I'll see if the soft reboot solves the problem. Can you tell me the steps to do a full reset?

Hi,

Sure - Press Active then 4 - 4 then press 0759 - select and then press 6 this will clear the memory as well as reseting, it just means you will have to reload all your bookings.

Hope this helps, if not then just call sky.

P.S. DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS!

I aim to misbehave.

Thanks, DS9. I'll try that if soft rebooting doesn't solve the problem.

I have been having the same problems with my MySky.  Last week all the series links disappeared (not the first time), and I only noticed on Tuesday that a couple of programs on Sunday and Monday did not record.

So on Tuesday I rang up sky to find out whats going on, and the operator took a message (as she didn't have a clue) for another person to ring me back the next day.  Two days later (not the next day) they left a message on my answerphone saying they do not need to send a tech out as it is a problem at their end, and she suggested doing a soft reboot and if this doesn't work to set manual records.  No mention at all over what they are prepared to do for me as a paying customer who has been getting a substandard service for the last month or so.

So I think I will just wait to pay this months bill.  Its due today, and I did have a bill payment set up, but I deleted it.

Yeah, same problem here... Frown

Most of the recordings we had setup in Planner have disappeared twice this month.  For some reason, the recordings on BBC didn't, but everything else did.

I looked at doing a Soft Reset, but a warning message comes up saying that all current recordings will be deleted, and as there are some programmes I haven't got around to watching yet, that idea didn't appeal.

I hope that Sky can get this problem sorted sooner rather than later.  It really shouldn't be an issue after all this time...

All Sky decoders (including MySky) have been updated of late (over a staged period) with new firmware in preparation for the move to Hpol. It is quite likely that this update has caused the box to drop some settings. Standard Sky decoders will get new firmware version 0350, MySky decoders will upgrade to version 108.

Then again it may be unrelated, but just thought I would pop that detail in.

Thanks for that Cyril.  I just had a look and our MySky is running Software Version 12.108.14 (the updated version according to what you have said).  So...  hopefully, things should be OK from here on... Undecided

Fingers crossed!

I dunno if thats the end of changes, I assume eventually they will drop their own streams of TV1/2/3/4 and point folk at the freeview streams, that will cause another bump in series links, but who knows.
