I don't have an authorised Freeview box (a $100 special off Trademe) and so far it's worked fine. I can pick up the channels, managed to watch the V8's (noted they were viewable) and the epg seems to work also.

Just wondering who out there bought the approved box and had the issues noted above

Larry, what model box did you get off trademe? And it does everything the 'official' one does? (EPG etc?)

Noones ever called skys boxes faulty for featuring a crap modulator before, so why are they picking on freeview? Who uses a modulator anyway these days? Seems stupid to get freeview and then take it back to the RF signal that its supposed to be replacing.

RF is good for distribution of sky and freeview throughout the house to other TV's. I have one quality connection to the main TV and all others in the house are running RF feeds from the back of the sky and FTA boxes.
