I've noticed just recently on TV1 that certain parts of news stories (seven sharp for example) are causing a very high pitched noise on the TV. I might be on seven sharp as well I heard it last time as well

These are on some parts of the stories which are recorded outside the studio (not the live part of it) .

Anyone else notice this? Maybe recorded via the same camera/sound guy whose system is a little broken?

It was very noticeable in certain parts in the story about Nick Chisholm tonight.

Not the reporter is it ;-)

Some TVs whine when displaying bright white pictures - could that be it?

Nope..
I recorded in on sky and could rewind/go back to certain places and it would do it each time. If I paused.. the high pitch noise would stop.

It would be in like this... in studio.. talk .. . start the story.. all ok.. switch to audio from people talking which has been recorded .. high pitch.. switch to voice over . no high pitch sound.. back to people talking from recorded video.. high pitch noise..

Not as high pitch as 16 year olds can hear (as I'm a little older).

Its not happening on anything else on TV1 I've watched so maybe Seven Sharp only. (I can't remember what I was watching when I heard it first)

Anyone got a copy of Seven Sharp tonight they have recorded as a file on their PVR so I can see if I can heard the same on it?

I've noticed the same thing with TV One news stuff across multiple televisions.

Who/what is SS ?

/edit - Oh, Seven Sharp. Of course. Yeah, I've noticed the noise across all their stuff - 6 news, Te Karere etc etc.

I noticed that the other night on One News. I was initially concerned, as we have a recently new TV. But was somewhat reassured that it only happened when crossing to some reporters, so assumed it was an issue with the source material and not our telly.

I had a similar issue with a TV connected to a satelite decoder by a composite connection.

When a screen with a large white area was displayed an anoyoying sound would come through the speakers.

When I changed the connection to component the sound issue went away.

Probably just noise from an analog video signal or an old crt getting into an analog audio interconnect. This is tvnz we are talking about after all. Till recently you saw old 4:3 tvs on the desks behind people in the "newsroom" set.

I'm getting sick of the TV1 high pitched noise..

It was pretty noticeable when Barbara Drever's voice over on the news this evening :-(
I've contacted tvone/Seven Sharp and the tvone news and nothing.. no response

It's probably a signal to toggle power on hearing aids for the old people so they don't complain about the story...

j/k

I am "mature" and I hear nothing! What did he say? Did the phone ring?
