Hi,

Any ideas where I can get one. Need to feed PS3 and HD Recorder to TV. Both output component (obviously) and I don't want to downgrade video connection by having to use composite for one source.

Thanks (Google search hasn't been much good)

And can anyone proffer an opinion on just using the 2 audio connectors + the composite connector on this device as the 3 component feeds. It would purely be for the video. Audio is routed through my amp digitally.

Jaycar have a couple AC1686 and AC1688, Joytech do a few, DSE carries the Joytech XBOX 360 lookalike (DSE YG1129) although some folk here reported problems with the Joytech, do a search on Joytech on this site to check it out.

Cyril,

Thanks for such a quick reply. The Jaycar AC1688 fits the bill although, to be honest, it is total overkill.

I am trying to avoid spending that much as this will be an interim solution until I have a new TV which will have twin HDMI plus component!

Cheers

Stu

Given that you can buy a cheap parallel import home theater amp that does component switching for less than $500 i would say the AC1688 is not only overkill, but also a ripoff.

Is your HD recorder being fed by a component signal?  If not then whats the point out outputting component from it?  Maybe you should just go with s-video for the HD recorder in the short term and save $50 to $500.

Nice thought, but not a good idea. The video is transmission line with impedance matching targeting @ 75 ohm but the two audio lines at lower frequency work differently, high impedance out ,low impedance in.

my personal belief is that everytime an analogue signal goes through another wire and system you lose quality so ... well if you're me that doesn't leave you too much of a choice, and yes i also don't believe in plugging and unplugging as it damages jacks! hmm ... sorry!

Just to advise on the resolution of the above. The search Cyril recommended threw up some interesting threads.

I paid $29.95 for a 3 input composite/stereo switch from DSE and fed both my component sources into it using the stereo chanels for 2 of the 3 inputs.

Works a treat with no visual picture degradation.

Thanks
