I have to agree with Regs. Setting up WinTV was very problematic. I still don't have it 100% I ended up going down the GBPVR  route which is working fine.

Anyway, In WinTV select the Sources Tab and check the Manually Scan a Freq. Enter in the values shown in the screenshot and then hit the Scan button. Thats how I did it anyway.

Hi,

Allstarnz, I can't find the box it came in; I'll get on the roof and find the model number.

Regs, I have downloaded MediaPortal V 0.2.3.0 RC2 and installed it following you step-bystep guide. In the Autotune tab, I can't see an option for Freeview. I see you say that one needs to be handcrafted but how do I do this?

Cheers,
Greg

hmmm. i was having problems using the geekzone blog editor - it kept 'losing' stuff and i hadnt noticed that this bit was missing :/

Anyway I have edited the entry to add the "Step 2: Create the FreeView Satellite Tuning File" bit back in.  Its pretty straight-forward :)

Hi,

I now have Freeview with MediaPortal - many thanks to you all and Regs in particular.

I still can't get the Hauppage WinTV to work but I am now convinced it is because I haven't been able to apply the NZ patch properly (the registry update errors I mentioned earlier).

I am very impressed with the Freeview picture vs sky digital. The increased bitrate is very noticible (42" plasma) and the native widescreen format makes more of a difference than I expected.

Cheers
Greg

I think after the Sky/TV3 stouch, 3 will be lucky to get 100k bit rate on Sky digital Laughing

But yes, Freeview is very, very nice.
