Kellysu: Hi, sorry the link for EPG.EXE was broken.  It's now working.

Does anyone have a link to download Bladerunner 3?

http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=60

you need to be registered for the forums before you can download though.

Regs: i'm using bladerunner pro 3.5 on my xp-mce box and i couldnt get things working with the "listings-freeview.xml.gz" file.

this is my command file:
--------------
c:
cd c:\Windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro\wget\
del /y listings-freeview.xml.gz
wget "http://nice.net.nz/epg/listings-freeview.xml.gz"
gzip -d c:\Windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\wget\listings-freeview.xml
del xmltv.xml
ren listings-freeview.xml xmltv.xml
copy /Y xmltv.xml c:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData\xmltv.xml
copy /Y xmltv.dtd c:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData\xmltv.dtd
cd ..\
copy /Y FreeViewChannelInfo.xml c:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\Quickguide\ChannelInfo.xml
BladeRunner.exe
if not exist Logs\. md Logs
move log.txt "Logs\EPG log %date:~10%-%date:~7,2%-%date:~4,2% %time:~0,2%-%time:~3,2%.txt"
--------------

error thrown is:

WHOOPS, something went wrong, error below...
System.Xml.XmlException: '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1.

after editing the "xmltv.xml" (this is the default brp pro 3.5 xml filename, not listings2.xml) and removing the doctype comment () bladerunner worked fine.

well that sucked ... !

After a lot of wild goose chasing it turned out that the xmltv.dtd fle I had was corrupt! I replaced it with a vaild one and had no more probems.... the one non-changing file i had, i didnt even think to  look at it until last :(  had assumed the problem was elsewhere

I'm really having some trouble with this!

I had reven's XMLTVNZ installed and his grabber linked in with Bladerunner.
I ran the EPG prog from this forum, and didnt touch anything - pretty obvious it wouldn't work and it didnt.

Then I deleted everything, installed BR again fresh, ran the EPG prog (updated the grabber file to the new location to download the data) and setup the guide in MCE again, and there were no channels. Setup in MCE advised guide data was downloaded successfully, however when I went to add guide data to channels, there was nothing there.

So I reinstalled the XMLTVNZ (on which I can only get TV1 TV2 and Prime listings) and it's back working again.

Are there any steps I am missing?

Should I tell BR to look at C:\Program Files\epg\GETLISTINGS.CMD for the grabber? When I tried this, BR went around and around in circles and eventually the file didn't download after about the 5th time. Or should BR not have any grabber specified?

Please help.....

Matt

Sounds like you had a different version of Bladerunner, or you aren't running MCE2005 Make sure you've uninstalled Blade Runner.

Run epg.exe, install bladerunner, create the channelinfo.xml and the getlistings.cmd.

You need to change the download path (as you did) editing the c:\program files\epg\getlistings.cmd

Then in MCE you need to do the Setup Guide Listings, postcode 0000, EPG data, download via Internet, and scan channels, which will not erase old channels, it will just add extra ones that you can remove after...

Then assigh the channels and the guide data will be there.

HAS ANYONE GOT A CHANNELINFO.XML FOR ALL SKY CHANNELS THAT IS WORKING? IF SO, COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR ME?

I've been having problems getting all channels working, I'm having trouble debugging my channelInfo.xml with all channels.  If someone could provide me one, I'll package it so it just works with MCE2005 and VISTA

cheers,
Kelly

Hey there, hope this helps. Here is my files and bat file. (take me awhile to go through and set them all up but here ya go..)

GETGUIDE.CMD
C:
cd C:\Windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro\wget\
del listings-sky.xml.gz
wget "http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/listings-sky.xml.gz"
gzip -d C:\Windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\wget\listings-sky.xml
del listing2.xml
ren listings-sky.xml listing2.xml
copy /Y listing2.xml C:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData
cd ..\
BladeRunner.exe

WIth my channelinfo.xml I have SKY Startup, Movies, Sport so all accessable channels for my setup are correctly configured to use the listings-sky.xml.gz file.

I'm using bladerunner 3.5 as downloaded from the offical site.
I notice there is a bladerunner included in the EPG package - should I be using that one instead?
I guess I should just delete the lot again and start again. The process seems to be very automatic.. im a bit too used to having to fiddle around alot more :P

Thanks for that. I'll test it tonight and then bundle it.  I think I'm just going to have pre-configured lists....  just choose from the menu when running EPG4MCE.EXE

1) Sky Digital
2) FreeView + Prime & Triangle + SKY UHF

See how I go tonight, I'm overdue to upload a version with the right download URL

Yes momo21,  Bladerunner 3.5 is good for MCE2005, so you shouldn't need to do the install that I uploaded.  I actually shouldn't really have bundled it either, I should ask permission to do so.  It's just that I think (because Microsoft doesn't give a stuff about NZ) that everyone needs an easy way to install and update the EPG - so I just wanted a simple run once install ...

I'll email the author and ask nicely, see what they come back with.   Anyway, I suspect you just need to run the "Setup Guide Listings" once you installed the EPG.EXE program...  should just work, but I'd suggest holding on until I've posted another download.

cheers,

I finally done something.... Sorry no GUI this time, just a script - works good though for SKY and FREEVIEW only on MCE2005

Download EPG.EXE for MCE2005 here:
http://209.97.223.191/epg.exe

I've just tried it from scratch, and no problems getting Freeview or Sky listings on MCE2005 using this script.

The first time you run it, it checks if Bladerunner is installed, if so, it moves on to the question:
SKY or FREEVIEW?

Once you've answered this question, it creates a flag file and doesn't ask again.  Every time you run GetListings.cmd after that, it will simply download the required data, and push it through bladerunner... ready for MCE to do it's stuff.
