Hi guys, Im after a 42-50" LED TV, the only requirements are that it has freeview built in and a USB port to play .mkv, .mp4 and .avi's. I was looking at the JVC 540 models at Dicksmith's, as they are super cheap. Has anyone had any experience with these? Or, recomend anything else, sub 1k.

Cheers.

The reviews I could find online for the 40" model were pretty positive, apart from a common comment about the sound being a bit tinny. Over 200 reviews the average score was 8.8 / 10 so that's a pretty good sample set. JVC's been around a very long time, but I've not had much to do with them personally.

Was looking at the JVC tv's as well but do not know alot about them quality wise.
The 50 " model is on special for $599 and if you add the code LATENIGHT14 (which ends tonight) it brings the price down to
$515.
Pretty good price for a 50" tv.

I believe they have no audio out ports so take note should you wish to buy a home theatre at a later stage.

I have a JVC 50", not sure on the model but its pretty good for a no frills TV.  I have it connected to an Intel NUC running Win10/Kodi.  It doesnt have an ARC port but does have digital audio out as I have it plugged into my soundbar via it and it works fine.  Only issue I have is banding from the lighting when theres a light image on the screen - nothing for me to really care about considering the price.
