I'm interested in buying a stand for a TV that would then allow the TV to be wheeled around when necessary .

Not a massive TV - no more than 40". Would need a shelf integrated with stand to hold DVD/settop etc.

Anyone got any ideas ?

What about get a "fixed" stand that fits your requirements, and then fit castors to it?

Budget?

I just use a CRT unit on wheels, had one when got rid of my Sony crt. They used to make them to last in those days.

Budget : well the $500 stand up thread was about as much as I would like to spend but something closer to $250 was what I was hoping for.

If I understand your comments about CRT correctly ... that's sort of my current situation but I'm about to ditch a venerable Sony Trinitron on a wheeled stand . The wheeled stand is now knackered and although the Sony TV works perfectly well for watching DVD's it's lacking in other departments.
