So I grabbed one of the Panasonic DMR-PWT550GZ Blu-ray player/MyFreeview recorders for cheap in the Boxing Day sales. Got it to replace a bedroom DVD player while adding Blu-ray player and Freeview recording capabilities.

So far so good.

However, went to play a DVD for my 3-year old yesterday and found it is locked to region 4 for DVD, (was a region 2 disc I was trying). Anyone here got one of these to be multizone for DVD? My DVD's are a mix of 4, 2 and 1 so really needs to be multizone. Don't care about Blu-ray as mine are all Region B anyway. Have Googled around and seems the standard remote multizone hacks wont work on these units. Instead it seems it will need to be taken to a Panasonic agent to be 'multizoned' using the service remote. Anyone had this done? Or any idea who might be able to do it?

Where are you located?
Simply find the Panasonic service centre in your town / city and they will multi-zone it for DVD playback... for no extra charge.
Just supply them with a copy of your receipt.

Call your retailer if you don't know where to take it to.

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Whangarei. Will have a look for the local service agent.

...A quick Google shows two in town. Cheers!
