Yeah adding to that x box will need everything in your chain to be HDCP compliant otherwise when you play disc it will downsample to 1080 but if it is compliant, its a good choice

I ended up getting the Samsung player, hardware modded for Region Free Blu-Ray codes.  It's good that it has two HDMI outs, so I don't need to upgrade my receiver straight away.  The remote sucks though.. it's less than half the size of a 'normal' remote.

Glad it's serving you well. I had it running together with the Panasonic for about a month, and it was that stupid remote that got to me in the end.

Can anyone verify whether the 4K UHD releases sold in NZ (i.e. via JBHifi) provide a 4K version of the movie with the UV code?  Like the US releases.

Currently only WB, Lionsgate, Universal and Sony (must redeem via Sony pictures account/store) are offering 4K via UV code redemption.

I checked Warcraft, but I can't see any file details about it on the redemption site..  I assume it's just 1080p.

What are some of the titles confirmed to have a 4K digital copy?   I have on 4K;

Oblivion, Warcraft, Snow White and the Huntsman, Huntsman Winter War, Deadpool, Mad Max Fury Road and The Revenant.

Of yours I've been able redeem all as 4K UV (purchased from Amazon) expect for Deadpool and The Revenant because 20th Century Fox are cheapasses and don't provide any 4K UV codes.

So your ones are the US releases?  the question was in regards to the AU/NZ releases.

My mistake though, you've confirmed what can be redeemed in 4K though lol

How do you know they are 4K?  all I can see is an HD logo..

I've redeemed 16 NZ UHD titles, and none included a 4k version, only HD (with the exception of Ghostbusters 2, which was SD only).

Sucks the movie distributors treat us as second class citizens.  All our releases are from Aus, so whatever they get we get.

I'll stick to getting mine from Amazon.

Meh, in the end, I bought into 4K for the psychical format anyway.  Streaming a 4K file would use up way to much data... and I have doubts it would be a truly accurate presentation/mirror of a 4K disc.

You dont, ultra violet revenant vs revenant disc is pretty noticable difference, theres definately some compression going on, more grain hdr blacks not as vivid in bonfire scenes buuuut mad max showed no difference and martian was hard to tell if there was a difference, maybe because revenant was filmed in 6.5k then downscaled to 4k release but mad max was filmed in 2k and upscaled and martian is mainly cgi I have no other movies to check on unfortunately
