I've read around on this subject and I'm thoroughly (easily) confused. I would appreciate some info on starting settings to experiment with.

I'm trying to choose the following settings: -

1) Crossover on the sub.

2) Hz settings in the receiver's speaker settings (separate settings for front and centre).

I have a 3.1 set up comprising: -

- Onkyo TX-NR-609 receiver

- Wharfdale 9.1 fronts (50Hz - 24Hz)

- Wharfdale 9.CS (70Hz - 24Hz)

- Wharfdale SW150

Used for music, movies and TV,all via HDMI.

I've got the same receiver. Generally I set the low-end to 80Hz which gives a reasonable rolloff, the NR-609 regards 80Hz as "THX" spec for better or worse.

The Subwoofer has a built-in low-pass filter, so set the frequency on the Onkyo as high as it goes, and set the LPF on the subwoofer to 75Hz (according to their webpage it goes from 35Hz-85Hz in 10Hz steps).

Thanks for the reply.

What do you mean by low end?

Where would I find that setting on the receiver?
