I finally bit the bullet and had MySky installed yesterday.  Since then I've been having signal problems that a soft-reset fixes for a moment, but then return.

Sky are sending out a technician.

The problem seems strange (Error C027) because TV1 and TV2 aren't affected, just TV3 and all the Sky Channels.

Another issue I seem to have is pixelation on Sky channels (when I don't have error C027).  I thought I'd record the reception problems I was having, but the recording quality was perfect.  I'm guessing the record option runs through a different tuner.

I'm convinced that the convenience of MySky outweighs a DVD/HDD option for me, so I'll wait for the technician.  Was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue; one post I read mentioned something about an LNB also needing a reset...

Could possibly be that one of the decoder chips in the My Sky is faulty. (I think they have two?).

If you record two different channels at same time it will force the mysky to use both turners for recording. Then if you check what's recorded you'll know if the fault is in one of the turners.

There's only one decoder as it doesn't decode as it records, it decodes as your watching the recording or watching live TV. As encrypted stuff when played back is ok I'd say the decoding part is fine.

Try unpluging it for about 20 min, plug it back in and after 5 min have a play. Probably won't do anything but it fixed a problem I was having that a soft reset wouldn't fix. Had atmospheric conditions on some channels even though the signal was fine, got them back after that.

Mysky 2 is due out in three to six months so if someone can wait probably better to wait till that comes out. Don't know what they charge to upgrade mysky to it.

Overall though, I'm very happy with mysky.

Power down and back up worked for about an hour and then the problems came back.  Once again though TV1 and TV2 are fine - its just the other channels that are acting in a similar manner to a rain-fade.  Can't wait to see what the Sky Tech does...

Could be a dodgy smartcard, doubt it but it could be the problem.  Since TV1 & 2 are not encrypted then the smartcard isn't used and the content itself isn't encrypted.  However TV3 and all other channels (apart from Stratos, Parliment) are encrypted so that may be it.

Have you checked your signal, and if you have a sky digital decoder elsewhere in the house you could try swapping the smartcards.

Another new thing I've learnt tonight.

I have a digital decoder as well and tried swapping out the cards.  MySky didn't recognise the Sky Digital card unfortunately, so back to the drawing board.

I cleaned the MySky card, and it gave us respite for 5mins, and then the problems returned (sigh).

Just to close things out nicely, the Sky Tech came yesterday and after testing all connections (and realigning the dish) gave me another box.  All is good in the world once again.

Thanks for your help everyone; your collection knowledge was much greater than the techs, and he felt a little embarrassed with some of the questions I was asking as he had no answers.
