Well, I thought about it a lot, and although I like my faithful old Bose system (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=34&topicid=198714), I couldn't fight the overwhelming urge to get with the program, bite the bullet and get some new AV gear from this century....

I've just bought a Marantz SR5010 home theatre amp, and a Bowers & Wilkins HTM62 centre speaker. A mate has sold me his Samsung BD-H6500 blu ray player as well, so no more using my laptop as the media player. I wanted that Samsung model as I believe you can get the Lightbox app on it (as well as Netflix etc).

I have my eyes on some B&W 685 S2 speakers for use as fronts, and maybe some B&W M-1 satellites for the rear. These will all have to be purchased as the budget allows. I don't need anything bigger at this point as my 'theatre' (aka my spare bedroom) is only around 3.5 x 3.5 metres. Maybe my next house will have a custom media room with a bit more room where I can think about utilising the Marantz's Dolby Atmos capability - at which point I can consider some bigger speakers.

I have had my Epson TW2500 (I think) for almost a year now, but I haven't tested the 3D on it yet, so lookimg forward to that.

Of course I am justifying all this expense to myself by committing to sell the many boxes of AV gear that I've collected over the years, through successive upgrades, which is all now doing nothing but filling my garage. That will cover at least a little bit of the new setup. I also intend this new setup to quite possibly be the last stereo I ever buy - although I think I said that when I bought the Bose 15 years ago......
